Sarah Palin on Hannity Tonight for "Told ya so" Interview

This is bound to be the reddest of red meat. Sean Hannity interviews Sarah Palin tonight where she calls out both the Obama Administration for its continued massive spending and Obama's voters for not listening to the McCain/Palin camp when they said Obama's plans would actually make the economy worse, not better. Drudge has the details:

HANNITY: What do you make of - look at the state of the economy now...

PALIN: Well, when you consider that the federal government is about eleven trillion dollars in debt, and we're borrowing more to spend more.. it defies any sensible economic policy that any of us ever learned through college. It defies economy practices and principles that tell ya 'you gotta quit digging that hole when you are in that financial hole'

Palin continues:

"America is digging a deeper hole and how are we paying for this government largesse. We're borrowing. We're borrowing from China and we consider that now we own sixty percent of GENERAL MOTORS - or the U.S. government does... But who is the U.S. government becoming more indebted to? It's China. So that leads you to have to ask who is really going to own our car industry than in America."

HANNITY: You know but it goes back - It does go back a little to the campaign. I mean, 'spread the wealth, patriotic duty...'

PALIN: Kind of a 'we told ya so'.

HANNITY: Well, is that how you feel?

PALIN: That's how I feel! I feel like... and I think that more and more constituents are going to open their eyes now and open their ears to hear what is really going on and realize ok... Maybe we didn't have a good way of expressing that, or articulating that message of 'here is what America could potentially become if we grow government to such a degree that we cannot pay for it and we have to borrow money from other countries, some countries that don't necessarily like America.

And this many months into the new administration, quite disappointed, quite frustrated with not seeing those actions to rein in spending, slow down the growth of government. Instead Sean it is the complete opposite. It's expanding at such a large degree that if Americans aren't paying attention, unfortunately our country could evolve into something that we do not even recognize.

This should be really good. Lately Palin has been hitting the Obama Administration for its irresponsible borrowing, spending, and nationalizing. If you haven't seen her speech in Auburn, New York, I recommend it highly. Flopping Aces has it in its entirety. Tonight sounds like she's going to hit a bit harder and not just at Obama's policies, but at the American voters who were too transfixed by Hopenchange to see that what Obama was proposing would harm America, even though John McCain and Sarah Palin were shouting it from the rooftops. It will be something to watch. I'll be in my car, so I'll have to be satisfied with listening on my XM.

Update: Don Surber asks, "Who's the fool now, fool?"

Palin isn't speaking at the big GOP fundraising dinner in Washington tonight but we won't mention that.

The GOP, be it through Gingrich or Palin, no longer speaks for conservatism, Adrian. There is a growing disaffection within the GOP. More conservative republicans are examining their presuppositions, and realizing that neoconservatism, which currently dominates the GOP, has little to do with conservatism in its foundational sense. Bush's act of openly flipping off his own base (illegal immigration, bailout, etc., etc.) was a ice-cold dash of water in the faces of true conservatives everywhere, reinvigorated the 'old right', and cost McCain the presidency. The GOP won't win in 2010 either for the same reasons.

Millions of people today are rediscovering what conservatism truly is, and why it is the only thing that can bring this country back from the edge of the abyss. It doesn't matter if Palin speaks at a GOP fundraiser or not, conservatives aren't hearing it.

Until the GOP returns to its conservative principles, it will continue to speak a losing proposition.

I'd call it an attitude of disdain for Cambridge elites. Seriously, who designated them as above ridicule? A sheepskin makes a lousy shield, and congratulating each other on how wise and wonderful they are doesn't mean that they can't be morons when it comes to real-world situations.

We don't have a priveleged aristocratic class running this country permanently - if their ideas aren't good, it'll be apparent and at that point (like inflating the deficit to fantastic amounts) they'll be replaced.

But the idea they're 'untouchable' and above ridicule or reproach has much more of a 'us vs them' aristocrat/peasant vibe than I find comfortable. "All men are created equal" doesn't mean "Unless your daddy is a Kennedy, or you're a heritage student at Yale, in which case you're better than everyone who ISN'T so priveleged."

"Palin's former pastor, Tim McGraw, says that like many Pentecostal churches, some members speak in tongues, although he says he's never seen Palin do so. Church member Caroline Spangler told CNN, 'When the spirit comes on you, you utter things that nobody else can understand ... only God can understand what is coming out of our mouths.'"

Some Pentecostals from Assembly of God also believe in "faith healing" and the "end times" -- a violent upheaval that they believe will deliver Jesus Christ's second coming.

And did they preach hate of "whitey" and the US?

Same link as above.

Palin now attends the Wasilla Bible Church. "She was there on August 17, just days before entering the national spotlight. David Brickner, the founder of Jews for Jesus, was a speaker. He told congregants that terrorist attacks on Israel were God's "judgment" of Jews who haven't embraced Christianity. Brickner said, "Judgment is very real and we see it played out on the pages of the newspapers and on the television. When a Palestinian from East Jerusalem took a bulldozer and went plowing through a score of cars, killing numbers of people. Judgment -- you can't miss it."

Even though many years have passed I still feel so very lucky and thank the good lord for the opportunity.

Unfortunately many of my classmates felt by "being there" they were better than others. Their self-serving arrogance was palpable. Most went to M&A firms and other WS businesses upon graduation. Only a few of us actually went to careers creating hard goods or non-financial instruments.

I sometimes wonder about the problems WS has experienced and the contributions of the attitudes of my classmates.

You know what I find personally disdainful of all this "thou shalt BOW to the elitists being defended."? I was honor society, national merit semifinalist (never took the SAT to be a finalist), qualified for the Naval Nuclear Power training program (had to be the top 5% of all elistees) and then graduated when NNPS had a 93% washout rate, and at the time was rated the 3rd hardest academic program in the nation behind MIT and Yale law. So, really, my academic credentials are in place. Further, as for arts, I was in choir, band, have recieved many honors for the level of virtuosity I achieved, and also quite enjoy painting and sketching, even winning some minor honors and awards for them. So my "artistic" credentials are also quite impeccable.

So, really I don't MIND intellectuals whom have attended elite institutions. Good for them. What I DO have a problem with, are ELITIST intellectuals educated far beyond their abilities or common sense.

The most interesting person I ever met was a Brigadier General that commanded Hickam Air Force Base when I was stationed in Hawaii. We were at an off base church function, and I was introduced to him, and quite enjoyed his company and conversation. He asked my assesment of his son, a recent grad from Westpoint, and I gave him my honest assessment that I thought he was an elitist prick who needs to first learn from his NCO's and a fair measure of humility. He could have had me written up, as he far outranked me, or made my life hell in general, as he knew my squadron CO. But he didn't. I also didn't learn his rank until far later. You know why? He appreciated my honest and forthright assessment and critique. He also appreciated that, after he told me his rank, that I treated him the same in all the rest of our conversations. I'll never forget what he told me. "I put my pants on the same as you."

And that's why he has my respect, and Barry O does not. He never put on airs.

I hate elitist intellectuals, not because they're intellectuals, but because they're elitists.

Thank you James for the Rhodes and other corrections.

Not mentioned nearly enough above is the inbreeding and cronyism that attends elite higher education programs. The cliques that form span decades of influence that is often ignored in political analysis. Our disdain for that includes disdain for the current folks that pull the strings for the GOP "leadership."

Nothing about the interview... (Below threshold)

Nothing about the interview AFTER it actually aired?

Hmmm.

bryanD:

Palin needs to un-parody herself. She is like the guy from Texas who never wears a stetson at home, but dons a ten-gallon hat upon deplaning at Newark Airport. By "cowboy hat" I mean her cornpone vocalise interpretation of Alaskan(??)/Northern Plains dialect which sounds artificially Canadian due to collateral sitcom southernism via boob tube injestion and the deep and obvious desire of Palin to be maximally "Alaska". Perhaps Mythic Alaska of The Mind, is her aim, but it's distracting now and patronizing. Plus her syntax is poor. I fear Hannity and her enablers are giving bad advice. She is being set in concrete. "Alaska. Attractive. Smiles. Average I.Q. An actor. Mind prone to hiccup when off-script." (B-)

bryanD, You are able... (Below threshold)

bryanD,
You are able to back your Palin allegations,
of course?

But, but, Lee's obsessed with the woman. He must know everything about her. He's just got to!

brYan... have you ever BEEN... (Below threshold)
ExSubNuke:

brYan... have you ever BEEN to Alaska?!?! I've been there 3 times (once in the service, 2 to visit my aunt and cousin). Palin has an Alaskan accent.

You're an idiot.

Palin is a beautiful Woman... (Below threshold)
