Now Back to Serious Business

Tomorrow, June 26th, the House of Representatives votes on the Waxman-Markey Cap and Trade bill, a huge energy tax that will cause your energy bills to sky rocket. If you don't believe me, listen to President Obama. He's the one who said it:

"[U]nder my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket." -- Barack Obama

Please call Congress at 202-224-3121 and tell them to vote NO on HR 2454. You can read a lot of great analysis at Big Government in your Wallet, which says you will pay $4600 a year more in energy costs.

"Cap and Trade" will end up... (Below threshold)
GarandFan:

"Cap and Trade" will end up kneecapping the Democrats if it goes through. I hope the Republicans in the House stick together and vote it down just as they did with that farce called a "Stimulus Bill", which is NOT paying huge employment dividends as forecast.

Cap and trade is going to r... (Below threshold)

Cap and trade is going to ruin the companies in this country. The Dems in Congress just want to control more and more businesses.

don't forget these, Kim:

"(M)uch of (the) costs of the plan will be passed along to consumers in the form of higher prices for energy and energy intensive goods." -White House OMB Director Peter Orszag

"Nobody, nobody in this country realizes that cap-and-trade is a tax and it's a great big one." -John Dingell (D-Mich.), 4-24-09 hearing

You know what's really scarey?
Waxman hasn't even read this Bill.
You know, the Bill he's co-sponsoring.

It's o.k., The only people... (Below threshold)
P. Bunyan:

It's o.k., The only people who use any energy in this country are those who make over $250,000/year so Obama won't be breaking yet another campaign promise.

All sarcasm aside, however, I wonder if the poor in this country, who likely overwhelmingly voted for Mr. Razzle Dazzle, realize that this is yet another in a series of regressive taxes passed by those "champions of the poor and underclass"--the Demcrats?

By "regressive" I mean it places a much greater tax burden on the poorest in our society just like the massive tobacco tax increase the pathological liar, Obama, signed into law within days of being sworn in.

Just as lower income people are so much more likely to smoke than the wealthy, they also drive old cars and trucks that get really poor mileage, live in old homes that are not at all energy efficient, and have old, inefficient appliances. While the wealthy have none of those issues so they will be taxed a lot less than the poor!

Of course you got to be a little retarded to think the Democrats do anything that actually benefits the poor and lower classes. They pretend they do of course, but they never do anything but the complete opposite. They know where there bread is buttered and it ain't from the poor.

Then there is all the millions upon millions of jobs that will be lost when it's no longer cost effective to manufacture anything in this country due to the oppressive energy costs, so the middle class will be screwed too unless they want to follow their jobs and move to some other country that isn't run by far leftist fanatics like Obama and Pelosi.

But at least the rich, who spend billions to get these f'ing lying Democrat bastards and bitches elected, won't be inconvienced much by this and they'll get to feel all smug.

And finally, this legislation is 100% religious based. Just because the left declares their religion to be "science", does not make it so. This legislation is based soley on unproven and often disproven or illogical BELIEFS (religion), not on FACTS (science). Yet the hypocritical, evil Democrats who constantly, and totally disingenusously, screamed "theocracy" during the Bush years are now supporting religious based legislation!

Could you imagine the reaction of the left if a born again pentecostal president and congress passed a massive tax hike on the poor and middle class that was entirely based on the coming rapture? Yet that's exactly what is happening today.

I just heard that the phone... (Below threshold)
Gmac:

I just heard that the phone lines on Capitol Hill are overloaded and voice mail is full.

I'm betting it's not calls to politely remind them how wonderful Unicorn farts smell and the rainbow that was supposed to end in their back yard ain't working out.

I was just heard about this... (Below threshold)

I was just heard about this cap and trade environmental policy tool which seems to delivers results with a mandatory cap on emissions, these bills offers a great amount of limitation by the government on the total amount of greenhouse gases that can be emitted nationally.
