Democrats Are Manipulating The News Cycle: Time For More Torture Talk

Newsweek is reporting that Attorney General Eric Holder is leaning toward appointing a special prosecutor to investigate Bush administration interrogation tactics and The New York Times is hyperventilating about Vice President Cheney allegedly giving a direct order to the CIA to conceal a program from Congress.

Four knowledgeable sources tell NEWSWEEK that (Holder) is now leaning toward appointing a prosecutor to investigate the Bush administration's brutal interrogation practices, something the president has been reluctant to do. While no final decision has been made, an announcement could come in a matter of weeks, say these sources, who decline to be identified discussing a sensitive law-enforcement matter. ...."I hope that whatever decision I make would not have a negative impact on the president's agenda," he says. "But that can't be a part of my decision."

Uh huh. Only Newsweek would repeat this propganda verbatim but, make no mistake, the official rehabilitation of Nancy Pelosi has begun. Does the timing of these revelations strike anyone as suspicious? Think for a moment about the Realpolitik involved here and focus on the fact that the Obama adminstartion would crawl over broken glass to distract the public's attention from a failed stimulus, failed cap and trade, fading ObamaCare, sinking polls and a cratering economy. What makes me think this would have been front page news last weekend if Sarah Palin hadn't made her announcement?

Let's assume just for fun that AG Holder actually is operating independently. Who will be the actual targets of this investigation? George Bush? Not likely given the protections of executive priveledge. Dick Cheney? Not likely for the same reasons. President Bush's advisors? Not likely either, for reasons that are protected by executive priveldge and lack of evidence (they did nothing wrong). Congress?.... (OK, that was a joke.) Which CIA do we believe, the one that sabotagued President Bush or the one that allegedly lied to Nancy Pelosi?

The entire torture prosecution meme, and the Potemkin Panetta "lying to Congress" Theatre, is all part of a two scene drama: the rehabilitation of Nancy Pelosi and the diversion of attention from a failing Obama policy in multiple areas. The torture debate was settled months ago but the egos in the Democratic Congress and a sinking Obama presidency require a new distraction now that Sarah Palin is off the front page.

Unfortunately for Democrats they can't divert the attention of the American people away from the weak economy and the steady stream of bad employment news. If Democrats are seen as being distracted by partisan motivated investigations while the economy stagnates it will cost them dearly in 2010. Obama is fine with that as long as they pass healthcare reform, cap and tax, card check, and other major liberal legislation before then. Republicans taking back the house in 2010 actually helps Obama in 2012. If Democrats need anything it's someone else to blame when their policies become proven failures.

RM, I was wondering when you'd attempt to oh so heroically confront me again in a blog's comment section. You're a real he-man, dude.

To answer your questions, no, I meant only what I wrote, no more and no less. And, if you look up, I already implied I probably should have just left it alone. It really was kind of petty nitpicking on my part, and I apologise to Mr HughS for even bringing it up.

Just so you know, RM, nobody elected you to speak for "all the military who have given their lives." Just because you call yourself "retired military" on a blog's comment section means NOTHING. If I start posting under the screen name "ExGreenBeretNamVet" will that give me credibility? For all I know, or anyone knows, you could be the world's biggest Tom Clancy fan and not a vet at all.

Now I understand you took offense at something I said long ago about military service looking good on a resume. Do you deny that military service does indeed look good on a resume? That some people join the military because of that, or the educational benefits, etc.? Because if you do, you are undercutting the Nation's recruitment effort!

Now, what I wrote back then may have been phrased in a provocative way. It's called "hyperbole", dumbass. Look it up.

Obama's "stimulus" was projected (by, um, HIM) to cap unemployment at 8%...and then have it start declining! It's 9.5% unemployment and on its way to 11+%. How DARE Hugh call that a "failure!"

The "G8 plus 5" were gonna get in line behind Obama's "Global Emissions" plan. But China and India the two BIGGEST polluters on the planet said "no thanks!" (In Indian and Chinese, one imagines). Though his plan was DOA, Obama pronounced it "A-OK!" How DARE Hugh call that a "failure!"

And that's just within the last 7 days!!

"Now I understand you took offense at something I said long ago about military service looking good on a resume"

No I took offenseat your implication that people were joining the military to improve their resume at your taxdollar expense and the implications behind a statement like that. As I stated before do you go around and proclaim to cops that you "pay their salary", to teachers "my tax dollars are the reason you have a job", etc. THe inherent arrogance in your statement and the meaning behind it is abhorent to me but sounds like a typical liberal view of the military.

Look, people, like I said, this was on a thread from several months ago. Perhaps the self-apponted Spokesman For All The Military Who Gave Their Lives would care to link to the actual quote. I don't even remember what the thread was about.

I'm pretty sure that if he/she does, it will show us engaged in a rather heated discussion. Anyone here ever go just a little over the top to make a point? Again, it's called hyperbole, something that occurs somewhat frequently on this blog and many others.

Again, my apologies for being off-topic here, but people DO enlist for a variety of reasons. Most, perhaps, primarily out of patriotism and a sense of duty. Others, at least partly, enlist for the educational benefits, the chance for adventure, because they don't know what else to do with their lives, or, YES, because military experience will look good on a resume. See, THAT"S WHY RECRUITERS TALK ABOUT THESE THINGS. And it is not an insult to say so.

And I'm a Tom Clancy fan, too, or at least I was until he got "co-authors."

And, Dude, ex-military or not, you should know that the last blowhard who said "F**k You" to my face regretted it. Not "Screw you," only a pussy would say that, especially on a blog comment section.

I didnt say that military experience doesnt look bad on a resume. On the contrary I believe just the opposite. The education, training, etc IMO looks very well on the resume.

As to Bruce Henry

The comment was not made in a discussion with me but in a discussion you were having with someone else.

I am sure you can find the comment if you try hard enough (why should I bother looking for your inane ramblings).

I dont give a damn if you were using hyperbole, lying or anything else. IMO you dishonered the service of millions and I am calling you the asshole which I believe you are for doing so. As I stated do you go around and proclaim to every govt worker, "my tax dollars go to your training and the only reason you do what you do is to enhance your resume. You meant it as an insult in my opinion and that is how I continue to take it. You can try to dismiss it as my holding myself up for fallen members of the military or not. As I said previously I could care less.

As for the last part of your statement. I live in Killeen Tx. The Site operators can confirm my IP address. I will gladly meet you in front of the Killeen mall military recruiting center.

I was just trying to help you out, there, pard. Because, see, if you go around in real life, not just on the internet, screaming "SCREW YOU" to everybody who pisses you off, one day somebody might kick your ass.

It's comforting to know you're only brave enough to holler "SCREW YOU" in the comments section of your favorite blog. Now I know you probably won't wind up with your ass beat.

"But I guess that's what I should expect from someone who thinks typing "SCREW YOU" in all caps --repeatedly -- constitutes "winning the argument."

Once again I could give a flying flip about winning an argument. I didnt know there was an argument to win. I am simply expressing my feelings toward your inane liberal ramblings.

"I was just trying to help you out, there, pard. Because, see, if you go around in real life, not just on the internet, screaming "SCREW YOU" to everybody who pisses you off, one day somebody might kick your ass. "

"It's comforting to know you're only brave enough to holler "SCREW YOU" in the comments section of your favorite blog. Now I know you probably won't wind up with your ass beat."

Again Killeen Mall, Killeen Tx Army recuitment center. You name date and time. You opened your mouth, you got called on it and now you are acting like a scared little girl.

"You're the one who's angry, tough guy. Put up or shut up."

Funny reading your last post I think just about anyone would disagree.

And as far as tough guy, again you are the one who talked about making someone regret it when they say screw you to your face. I am all to happy to oblige you on these boards or in person as I have made more than clear.

You are once again a typical liberal. A coward who spouts crap and when they get called on it run around saying "It isnt my fault, the mean man is being ummm mean to me"

Now go cower indignantly in the corner and come back when you think of another way to try to save face.

In the meantime

Real men dont trash talk on the internet and then go running and hiding when someone tells them to back it up.

Example:

I say "screw you"

You say
"And, Dude, ex-military or not, you should know that the last blowhard who said "F**k You" to my face regretted it. Not "Screw you," only a pussy would say that, especially on a blog comment section.
"

So I said Screw you again and now I say (apologies to other readers) what I said when you originally posted your crap "Fuck you"

Which in general dictates saying or doing something more manly than saying (and I paraphrase)

"Well umm I really wasnt talking about you I was umm talking about the last guy who said it. You know that wasnt really a challenge. You seem so angry and I dont know why. Would you like a latte or a caffiene free tab?"

That is called trash talking and then running like a scared little girl.
