I'm glad the I wasn't the only one who read Anne Leary of Back Yard Conservative's account of a chance encounter with Bill Ayers at Reagan National Airport and thought that his spontaneous confession to authoring Barack Obama's "Dreams From My Father" was pretty funny. Even Leary was convinced, at the time, that he was bullshitting her...
AllahPundit can't decide which is funnier, that he's bait her by parroting Cashill/Andersen-fueled authorship suspicions, or the fact that others seems to think he was making a legitimate confession.

Look, Obama has outsourced virtually everything he has done so far as President. The war in Afghanistan to Biden, Health Care, Cap and Trade to Pelosi, et al. I think Barry could easily write an outline for a book, but write the actual book (let alone two of them) I doubt it. On the other hand, the ONLY time Barry does seem engaged is when he is the focus of attention so in that light he could polish off a biography or two I guess. We'll probably never know because he's got too much cover.

People that cannot articulate when they speak, cannot when they write without piles of re-writes. That is very hard work. Obamalala doesn't work that hard. Obamalala has a very hard time making sense when he speaks without the TOTUS. I'm not sure if it was Ayers, even though he is an experienced writer with published work and books under his belt. There is a lot of comparative evidence that points to Ayers. I am sure that Obamalala didn't write "Dreams". Not without a lot of help.

Ayers is a narcissist just like Barry. I can see him getting ticked off for not getting 'the recognition' he believes he deserves. Barry's political career was launched in Ayers living room. What did Ayers get for this? Thrown under the bus when the association was deemed harmful to Barry's success.

This one needs to go in the circular file until actual proof exists I don't care to hear about it any longer.
As for birthers, I am one who wants him to release his birth certificate long form for verification. Not because I believe he is not a citizen but because that should be an essential part of the job application just like any other! Besides, it would shut up the crazies.

I think this is going to be one of those things whose truth will never be definitely known for many years -- kind of like JFK's Pulitzer Prize-winning book Profiles in Courage. When it first came out in 1957, it was one of those things that "everybody knew" that the book was actually written by Kennedy family booklicker (and later speechwriter) Ted Sorenson. The Kennedys threatened to sue ABC-TV when columnist Drew Pearson asserted this as fact when interviewed by journalist Mike Wallace on his live news program. ABC issued a retraction, but Wallace and Pearson stood by their story. And then, 50 years later, in 2008, Sorenson published his autobiography in which he admitted, yeah, he wrote it. For which Kennedy paid him a giant wad of cash, also to keep his mouth shut.
So, somewhere around 2060, we'll know the truth for certain about Dreams From My Father.

Allahpundit asks the important question as to whether the truth about "Dreams" authorship matters. I would say only if some people who drank Obama's kool-aid will realize their foolishness when the authorship is revealed. I read the Cashill pieces, and combined with my observations about Obama, do not believe he is capable of writing such a (supposed) good book.
That being said, I also believe Ayres is pretty intelligent, and certainly has been a prolific writer. If he made a substantial contribution to Obama's book, why didn't he ask for an acknowledgement? I think he was definitely messing with the blogger.

Anyways, your reading skills need some brushing up - Leary wasn't "convinced" at all. Instead she, like many of the others fooled (Goldberg etc), wanted to ask "serious" questions about it. Very. Seriously.

Which is wholely accurate. She says that in her recap of the conversation. I made no comment on the rest of the post (which goes on and on), where I did see that she still believes he's involved. Dealing with that was a much longer post I had no interest in writing. The guy was clearly screwing with her, as even she seemed to realize at the time.
The fact that she went backed and talked herself into believing that there was some significance to the encounter wasn't my point, nor was the fact that this seems to be an issue she's been writing about for a long time. The link is there and I assumed people would go read it for themselves.
