Well, there are a few shows I used to watch. NO longer. If they want to be political, put up a sheild in front and tell us what to think. Do not do it this backward way.

Could we be living thru Liberalism's final orgiastic convulsions? While I don't dispute Dear Leader's ardent bolshevism he's forcing the tempo of revolution to high farce.

During the Bush administration the MSM along with Hollywood did their share to demonize President Bush. Most of the people I know formed their opinion of Bush through the shows they watched on - ABC, CBS, NBC and such.
Today these same media outlets are at it again only they have no intention of bashing Obama - just the opposite.
That wouldn't be so bad but most viewers of these show won't or can't think for themselves nor can they think very deeply. They will take things at face value and/or what gives them a warm and fussy feeling and run with it.
Anyway, I'm all for community service and what have you. I just detest the brainwashing methods used by the MSM. It picks on some easy prey.
As parents you know that sometimes you do things that are not popular with the children but you do it for their own good. You don't let them eat candy before bed or before dinner. You make them brush their teeth, and so on. These things aren't popular with the children but it is in their best interest.
Why can't liberals understand that concept?
Being a conservative is not popular. It's much easier to take the path of least resistance. Do the things that make you feel good. Eat all the candy you want. Hell, better yet - get someone to buy you all the candy you want. That is the liberal mind set it seems to me.

According to the list I don't watch those shows anyway. I am disappointed in FOX but luckily they seem to be more in commercials or monologue than woven through the shows themselves.
As an aside I could easily see Emily Deschanel's character in 'Bones' spouting liberal agenda but I think Booth (David Boreanez) would set her straight at the same time saying "He is my President, ultimately my boss, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with everything he says."
Just another reason I only watch Hulu, and on Hulu there are very few shows from stations other than Fox that I am interested in anyway. Eastwick is one of them.
Bones, Glee, Family Guy, Cleveland Show, American Dad, Simpsons, Lie to Me, Dollhouse etc. Thats my entertainment. Live TV (when you don't have cable) is dead to me.

So far I have read one-sided comments so I will provide some balance especially to the comment below. It appears the author does not live in this country or this present age.
'Some critics have contended the measure, expected to cost roughly $6 billion over the next five years, is fiscally irresponsible in light of the current economic downturn. They also argue that the concept of volunteerism is undermined by providing financial compensation for community service.'
This leads me to believe that this person believes there is no real value in encouraging volunteerism. Many student can find other avenue to earn more money, but they have chosen a field which will actually save the country billions of dollars if the services were done by hired person. And also depending on the type of volunteerism you might add saving lives and saving communities... rebuilding commmunities that have been ravaged by the kind of thinking that values investment in things rather than in people and communities. That value sending trillions of dollars to bail out businesses whose irresponsiblity have caused the destabilization of communities and thus the need for more community action and volunteerism.
I believe an investment in people in terms of dedicating media, time and money to a worthy cause will be more than worth the returns on investment in the future. We will have a better more wholesome communities. And our children will be rewarded for seeing the value of dedicating their lives to worth causes.
But according to this blog it appears some people don't seem to get the point. Or maybe they did not get the credit so they don't want to give kudos where they are due.

Wow. are some of you people serious. Gosh, I wish that that type of service & volunteering was promoted like this in my country. You should be lucky you have a prez who cares about such issues. In as much as some of Obama's policies may not be that great, but some people (inlcuding the author of this piece) need not let their judgment be clouded by everything else. Why can't people consider the good when it is actually done. This ain't about Bush or Obama; or about partisan politics; this action from the POTUS and EIF is about your kids, about their future, about country!!.why can't people see that.. Damned if you do; damned if you don't....

Joe,
You say this isn't about Obama or Bush (what's up with always bringing in Bush???) but it is about a "promotion of Obama's initiatives" as the piece stated in the opening sentence.
The Obama White House has proved already that it believes in special education of the masses (and especially our children) by the disgraceful idea of promoting himself on the opening day of school, which only was modified to a bland speech after parents became aware of the blatant propoganda included in the post speech workbook.
We who value freedom of speech and freedom of expressin still believe that embedding propoganda, no matter how benign, in entertainment shows at the behest of the White House is wrong. Do the media outlets and the shows creators, writers and producers have the right? Of course they do. Do we like it? Of course not.
Have you seen the propoganda used in the mideast which targets the youngest of their children to hate Jews? Is this the same? No, of course not, but it is the spear tip.
I don't like it. It bothers me. It is a bad precident.
