Do you remember during the Presidential Campaign that Oprah had on then candidate Barack Obama several times? Do you remember that she barred John McCain and company from her show? Well, I guess political differences are only so deep, as Newsday is reporting that the former governor of Alaska will appear on Oprah to plug her new book Going Rogue.
From Newsday:
"In a world exclusive, Oprah Winfrey will interview former Alaska governor Sarah Palin for an episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" to air Monday, Nov. 16, 2009. Winfrey and Palin will meet for the very first time on the episode, which will mark Palin's first interview to discuss her upcoming book, "Going Rogue: An American Life" and her first-ever appearance on the "Oprah" show.Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin burst onto the national political scene as running mate for Sen. John McCain in the 2008 presidential election. Now, following her decision to step down as governor of her home state of Alaska, and on the eve of the release of her first book, Palin will speak first to Oprah in a world exclusive interview."
I see this as ironic in a way. Rumors were going around that Palin would host a daytime TV show after the Presidential campaign and after she stepped down from Alaska's highest office, so who knows...maybe this could be a launch into something more. Or maybe not.

Palin is simply following the lead of Ronald Reagan, who spent a great deal of time making speeches and numerous dinners and events. He built up a following and improved his ability to grab the attention of the populace, who listened to him and eventually voted for him.
These days, the tools are Facebook, Twitter, etc. If she has to face down Obama's hatchetperson, then so be it.

PB: But just think of the comparisons - Obama is boycotting FoxNews, refusing to even appear with anyone that doesn't already worship him (and today's MorOn.org email is a petition demanding that all Democrats refuse to appear on Fox), meanwhile Palin is pretty much going to appear at Obama Ground Zero (and without McCain's moronic handlers around, hopefully she's doing it on her terms).
You don't have to like everybody or agree with everybody, but for crying out loud adults can't just stick their fingers in their ears and scream "nah nah nah I can't hear you!", no matter how big those ears happen to be.

I wonder how many people will start yelling about Sarah on Oprah's show? Will there be Oprah boycotts like the ones for Whole Foods. Should be fun to watch them cry about it. It would be even funnier if Oprah dropped her because of pressure from outside groups.
