Why NY-23 Matters

scovva.jpg

The special election on November 3rd to determine the replacement of Republican John McHugh (who resigned from office to become the United States Secretary of the Army) has suddenly become a bellwether matter of national importance, but not for the reasons suggested throughout the mainstream media. This particular election is not at all about Democrats versus Republicans. It is solely about a conservative revolution within the Republican Party and the direction it must take if it is to wrest power away from liberals.

Dede Scozzafava is by all accounts a pro-abortion liberal who by a twist of fate has somehow ended up with an "R" after her name. Her candidacy has been endorsed by Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas. A victory by Scozzafava would be far more damaging to the future of the Republican Party than losing the seat to the Democrats because it would embolden the party's moderates who have brought forth such winners as John McCain, Arlen Spector, Lincoln Chaffee and Olympia Snowe.

The key to re-capturing Congress in 2010 is the unification of the party around unwavering conservative principles. A victory by Doug Hoffman is of paramount importance as it would send a compelling message to elitist party leaders that Republicans value true conservatism above all else and demonstrate that compromise is not the key to defeating liberals in 13 months. Victories by third-party candidates are few and far between, but Doug Hoffman and the Conservative Party have a chance to shock the world in 11 days. An upset by Hoffman would speak volumes about the influence of endorsements from true conservatives such as Palin, Limbaugh and Levin.

The simple fact that the Conservative Base is opposed to the Republican Party Hierarchy in the NY-23 race and nearly everywhere else should persuade the Republican Party Hierarchy to become more Conservative in their actions.

But they won't.

In an echo of Milton's Paradise Lost, the Republican Party Hierarchy would rather rule within their Minority status than serve in a Conservative Majority.

It should be pointed out the this vacuous twit had the audacity to go to Mr. Hoffman's campaign HQ's to chastise him about not wanting to debate him *after* she had turned down all offers from him previously.

She also forgot that his campaign office has actual volunteers and they had the temerity to think. Note carefully that she brought along 1 Adrian Brown type and his staff brought out signage, en mass. That is where the picture was taken.

It was the local party leaders that made this decision to select her and that is where the revolution is taking place, at the local level.

Toss out the squishes and create a platform that adheres to conservative principles locally, place conservatives on the ballot locally, not people that are to the left of what the Democrats are running and that is what is starting to happen.

They have cut the throats of the poor and the middle class.

They have looted our national treasure.

They have abandoned their constituency in favor of a multi-national corporate behemoth and an out-of-control military industrial complex.

They have created a global, geo-political catastrophe in the Middle East that will take at least a century to remedy.

They have shoveled a generation of American children into an untenable slaughterhouse in Iraq.

They have engendered an economic nightmare so immense that generations yet unborn will still be bearing its burden.

They have sold our nation's soul to the highest corporate bidder.

They have made a mockery of the First Amendment.

They have squandered a trillio-plus dollar surplus with a tax cut for a class of people who didn't need it.

They have gutted vital social programs that aid the poor and the elderly which have been in place for over seventy years.

They have gutted laws meant to protect working men and women.

They have plundered the environment.

They have depleted our educational system.

They have hijacked this nation's political dialogue.

They have ruined our international reputation.

They have handed our domestic agenda over to religious fanatics.

They have stolen two national elections.

They have trampled on our constitution.

They have sent our Bill of Rights through the sausage grinder....

They must never, ever be allowed to govern our country again.

The grand old party is over.

Big slap in the face to the local GOP leadership. Big slap in the face for the Nat'l GOP leadership too, since they decided to get involved and make an issue of it.

If they do get slapped in the face, I would hope it serves as a wake-up call. 50/50 chance at best.

No, it means Gingrich has lost it.

Really, Moulitas is a far-left-wing moonbat.
The fact that anyone takes him seriously about anything is cause for concern.

Maybe a cycle premature? Re-capturing the Senate with but a third on the schedule? The GOP needs to lose this bout and many more before they will learn their arithmetic.

Otherwise a good article and a promise of more.
