We will miss this man more and more:
Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, visited wounded soldiers and their families near the site of the worst mass shooting on an Army post in the United States.
The Bushes made their private visit to Fort Hood's Darnall Army Medical Center on Friday night. Bush spokesman David Sherzer said in an e-mail that the couple thanked Fort Hood's military leaders and hospital staff for the "amazing care they are providing."
I'm sure President Obama will do the same... right?

I'm sure Pres. Obama will be too busy watching himself on TV to make the trip.

George W.Bush has more class and compassion for his fellow Americans(esp those in uniform) in his little toe nail than pResident Ditherer does in his entire body.

OK, I knock Campaigner in Chief Obama as much as the next person, but this is a bit overboard.
It's reminiscent of the knocks on Bush for keeping reading My Pet Goat, or for his delay in visiting the site of the Katrina disaster.
There are more than enough good and real reasons to attack Obama. This isn't one of them.
Granted, it does show the class and dignity of the Bushs, but even they would say it was an unworthy reason to attack Obama.
I know I'll get hammered for this, but it needed to be said.

Obama will get knocked for his crass campaigning and gladhanding when he was supposed to be making a somber statement about the shootings, and deservedly so. I have seen it compared to the 'My Pet Goat' story here and elsewhere.
Bush showed his class and character by making a relatively unpublicized and private visit to the base.
Obama will visit in time and make a very public statement and presentation. He will spend little if any time privately with the people who were directly effected by these events. It's just who he is. He doesn't care for other people. He is entirely self absorbed. He particularly does not care for the military and snubs them at every opportunity (when signing a veteran's affairs bill he spends most of he time talking about curbing executive compensation and ignores the reason he's there in the first place). He will visit when he calculates it will have the most beneficial effect for him and the least for the military.

there's Class and No-Class
Bush going PRIVATELY and without cameras to actually show compassion is CLASS.
If Obama goes without cameras then I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
But if, as I truly believe, he goes with FULL PRESS COVERAGE...then that is NO-Class!!
Odds of Obama keeping the visits with soldiers PRIVATE??? Near zero!

You all have already pegged it: C-L-A-S-S. Anyone can have it regardless of their socioeconomic background, but it's a sign of excellent parenting because that's how it's taught. I've met the low-born (I am one) who possess it, and I've met Ivy League graduates who do not have it.

Tammy - I know what you mean - I was raised in an extremely poor family. But regardless of income, my mother practiced good manners, and taught her children how to polite, etc., and I grew up practicing them.
George and Laura Bush and Barack and Michelle Obama both have class. Unfortunately, when it concerns Barack and Michelle, it is all LOW. Big difference between George and Laura and Barack and Michelle.

An interesting observation from the UK Telegraph:
"Completely missing was the eloquence that Mr Obama employs when talking about himself. Absent too was any sense that the President empathised with the families and comrades of those murdered."
You'll note the UK didn't use the word 'tragedy'.

Obama can't find fault with a fellow brother muslim who simply followed his call to jihad against the infediel.
Remember, muslims practice taquiya where the almighty murdering pedophile mohammad made it OK to lie and deceive in order to advance islam.
With such practice endorsed by their big guy in the koran, you never know if a muslim is telling the truth.
Of course you always know with Obama is lying. His lips move.
