Supreme Court Refuses to Spare DC Sniper

Update: Executed. The world got a little bit better tonight, at 9:11pm.

John Allen Muhammad will be executed tomorrow, as scheduled.

The money quote, emphasis mine:

Muhammad's attorney, Jonathan Sheldon, says "Virginia will execute a severely mentally ill man who also suffered from Gulf War Syndrome the day before Veterans Day."

Using Gulf War Syndrome or Post Traumatic Stress as a cover for violent jihad is sick, and it dishonors and discredits our Vets who actually do suffer from these ailments.

Let's properly honor our Veterans on Wednesday, but not before taking care of this low life scum on Tuesday.

Just my two cents.

Ok here is my third cent:

How long until we can give Maj. Hasan the John Allen Muhammad treatment?

Firing Squad, is the correct treatment for said assasins. They can thank their god they aren't in a muslim country where they would get the chop chop treatment of having their heads taken off by a large man with a large sword.

The unborn and the old and sick are okay to kill, but not some low-life jihadist.
And as far as this killer being a veteran, his crime out-weight that.

Jim Addison:

My attitude towards the death penalty has evolved over the years. Now, while I believe the state has the sovereign right to exact this punishment, I think it must be reserved for the most egregious acts.

These would include those of callous cruelty, premeditation, and consciousness of guilt. All of these conditions are satisfied in the case of John Allen Muhammad.

He selected victims of opportunity whom he had never even met, and meted out death to them without hesitation. He planned his attacks carefully to maximize the terror they caused and his own chances for escape. He trained his young liege as the shooter in an attempt to avoid culpability.

If John Allen Muhammad did not deserve his sentence, no rational death penalty can ever be applied. But he did deserve it, beyond any doubt. May God have mercy upon his soul.

#15. For years, Ive though they should bring back stoning. Clearly life in prison, or the slim possibility of execution isnt a sufficient deterrent.

Maybe the victims family, etc all lining up at 60 feet 6 inches might be cause for concern before killing indiscriminately.
