Todd's not a Republican and yet he's got more commonsense conservatism than a whole lot of Republicans that I know... But in answer to your question, I don't think that the third party movement will be what's necessary to usher in some commonsense conservatism ideals... In Alaska, about 70% of Alaskans are independent. So that's my base. That's where I am from and that's been my training ground, is just implementing commonsense conservatism solutions.

The Army line legal apparatus is trying to clean up this awful mess the medical side made of things. Don't diss them (at least yet).

The careers on the medical side, especially those that transferred him to Mt Hood in hopes he would "just go away," ought to be ended in disgrace after trial for dereliction of duty. THAT I would like to see some investigative blogging about, as it is far too likely that they'll slide into obscurity. It's the way the majority of O-6 and above medical forces in all the armed services tend to behave. Sadly.

Nope, those motivations are separate from the "I just want this problem to go away and not affect my military retirement" syndrome that plagues AMEDD and the other military medical services. The military medical system is unfortunately a great place for incompetent and dangerous doctors to hide out. In this case, the fellow killed a lot of folks at once. Only when we use the specificity of "aggression" and its objective, culturally neutral indicators can we get-out-in-front of these acts of aggression and prevent them. Why are current systems uses on campus failing us?

The answer is quite simple - The military does not have an objective and culturally neutral system that collects information and evaluates it to determine the degree (or level) of aggression an individual is displaying, nor has it people who have a clear responsibility to observe and report this information. A lawyer for one of five men facing trial for the Sept. 11 attacks says the men plan to plead not guilty and use the trial to express their political views.

Attorney Scott Fenstermaker says his client Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali and the others will not deny their role in the 2001 attacks but will tell the jury "why they did it."

He says the men will explain "their assessment of American foreign policy."
