Dave is a reliable Obama fan, but perhaps not for long.
I assumed that because we elected Obama to end the war in Iraq that it went without saying that the war in Afghanistan would be ended as well.
Apparently not so.The President is now considering an escalation of the war in Afghanistan.
I can't imagine he will not face substantial opposition in the US and elsewhere, if the answer is escalation. I will be working to change this, and if it means working against the Democrats and the President, so be it.
No wonder he's dithering. He is already starting to lose the independents. With Afghanistan, he could lose his base.

Another freaking whiner. Didn't Barry say that Afghanistan was "the war that has to be won"? Guess ol' Dave just wasn't listening, and hearing only want he wanted to hear.
Ain't buyer's remorse a bitch?

The problem is less that Dave wasn't listening, and more that Obama probably said at some point that he would pull out of both wars.
It wouldn't be the first time he played to an audience with no regard for his true feelings on the matter.

How about one of them Surgevictories®? Or how about one of them nukular bombs? Or how about replacing one corrupt puppet government with a different corrupt puppet government? How about invading one of them different countries that end in "stan"?

Mr. Winer will have a lot more to whine about. Afghanistan (Bush's War) another "crisis opportunity" they can not miss. They will milk it for a good long time. Evidence: The NYT is now worried enough to put a chart depicting the deficit on the front page above the fold. BHO moaned about the size of the Federal deficit in a "candid" chat while in Korea. The reason? My bet is that the liberals-who-have-no-shame want to add a "temporary" tax (probably a VAT) to "offset" the war in Afghanistan. It will be just as 'temporary" as the income tax and just as anti-business. That's my prediction. Record it in stone and hold me to it. -- Frank Derfler, November 2009

I think this article illustrates Obama's main weakness as a leader. He insists on viewing every problem in personal political terms, in how it will impact his favorability ratings.
It's why he will never rise to his responsibility to be a president. After months of dithering, all of the alternatives are going to cost him. It's all about damage control for Obama.
In the meantime, our soldiers are getting killed for a mission that has been abandoned. It sucks.
It's decision time: go big, go heavy, or go home.

Close, but no cigar.
Schumer and Leven want to start a tax on those making over 200k per year to finance the war in Afghanistan.
Under normal times, meaning when adults were in charge or at least in partial charge, I'd say they were dreaming.
But now I'm not so sure it won't get approved all the way to the teleprompter in chief.

Actually, Adrian, this is a fabulous idea. Here in the US we do this every four years. Doing it to foreign governments works too, provided-- very important here-- the replacement government is not engaging in, supporting, or threatening terrorism or war against us. A corrupt government we can live with- heck, we have a bunch right here. A terror-enabling government, no.
