Burnin' Down The House

The Obamas just hosted their first "official" state dinner this week, honoring the Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh. Not satisfied with the meager trappings of the White House State Room, the Obamas chose to throw a lavish reception under a huge tent on the South lawn, replete with chandeliers, A-list musical guests, and Hollywood royalty.

Although this was labeled an "official" party, these kind of shin-digs have become the norm in the rockinest White House ev-ah.

Since their first six weeks in the White House, the Swingers-in-Chief have hosted numerous "Wednesday" parties, ranging from small, cocktail binges to rip-roaring, burn down the White House affairs.

Who can forget Inauguration Day? A $150 million extravaganza, from his Philly to Washington train ride, to the main event featuring a gaggle of celebrities and starry-eyed common-folk.

His bi-partisan Super Bowl party was a huge success, especially for the citizens of Kentucky who were paralyzed by an ice storm of biblical proportions.

His first "formal" ho-hum dinner was thrown for the nation's Governors, while debate raged over the $800 billion stimulus boon-doggle. No expense was spared, as "Wagyu beef" was served, a cut which runs $100 per pound. Entertainment was of paramount importance, and the Obama's did not disappoint. Earth, Wind, and Fire laid down grooves for the political royalty, stomping out songs like Boogie Wonderland, Shining Star, and September amongst the portraits of George and Martha Washington.

Courting the Latino crowd, the Obamas hosted "In Performance at the White House: Fiesta Latina," showcasing prominent latin performers like Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Estefan, and Los Lobos.

They have chartered Air Force One to attend a Broadway play, even flying to Chicago to have a Valentine's Day dinner at one of their favorite restaurants. Include their pricey vacation at $50,000 a week Martha's Vineyard (not including security and Secret Service protection), and they're living the high life.

Last, but not least, Obama held a lavish dinner in September to celebrate the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. Numerous cabinet members attended. Obama invited dozens of Muslim foreign dignitaries, praising them for their devotion and traditions per their religion. During his gushing tribute to Islam, he proclaimed "we celebrate a great religion and its commitment to justice and progress" and "the contribution of Muslims to the United States are too long to catalog because Muslims are so interwoven into the fabric of our communities and our country."

He gladly partakes in feasting and merriment for a religion that spawned the animals who perpetrated September 11th, yet, he refuses to recognize and celebrate publicly the traditional annual National Day of Prayer.

Unbelievable.

Perhaps the most conspicuous and egregious snub of all has been his treatment of Israel.

Israel has been our only true democratic ally in the middle east for decades. Constantly attacked by the great Islamic religion, Obama treats her like a red-headed step child.

He has all but declared Israel the antagonist regarding the Palestinian conflict. He treated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu like a pariah upon their first meeting. His speech to the Muslim world was more a damnation of Israeli policy than one of good faith, and he has condemned almost every action Israel has taken since he took office.

Now, as if to add insult to injury, he has decided the annual state dinner in honor of the Jewish observance of Hanukkah will be cut in half, blaming cost as the culprit, due to poor economic circumstances.

This from a man who has run up a $1.8 trillion deficit in his first 11 months in office.

Jewish Americans voted overwhelmingly for him.

One wonders if they'll receive the same celebration as the Super Bowl.

Had a close friend who was at the WH Tuesday.

He said the whole thing was run by a bunch of amateurs, who made no contingencies whatsoever in case the event could be held outside.

I think guest list was trimmed from 2000(maybe?) outside to several hundred inside. My buddy mentioned to someone there that an important event, at the most important residence, in one of the most important nations on this Earth should have been able to run this event w/o a hitch.

Since the clown couldnt blame Bush, he blamed the weather. (Bama-bots must be too friggin stupid to think of of having a tent or 2 set up outside w/ an audio or video feed. Spare no expense right?)

Ya'all just don't get it. Everything Obama learned about governance was from watching the third-world. Two of his parents were from the third world (father, step-father) and he grew up significantly in Indonesia. His mentors were communists that adored the third world. He is simply emulating what he saw as a child.

The party in power does whatever it wants, lives it up like there in no tomorrow, does everything it can to consolidate and hold on to poser. Rampant cronyism and looting the treasury. regardless of the reality of the economy is normal as well.

MunDane:

There is a great disconnect here because while Israel = Jew, in America, Jew =/= Israel. In fact, the ultra-Orthodox communities in New York think that only the coming Messiah will establish Israel, and the political entity there now is nothing more than a heretical shadow of the REAL Israel.

On the other end of the spectrum, you have a people who, while Jewish, maintain that their commitment to being on the political side of the oppressed requires them to contort themselves into supporting their own destruction.

Cheap bling?

Sure, why not?

Not since the horrible HilBilleries and their fellow recidivist, treasonous, lying, looting, thieving, co-serial-rapist cohorts so squalidly be-squatted and be-manured our once white house have I been so frequently reminded of my Grand-Ma's assertion that, try as hard as you can, you just cannot make strawberry jam from pig poop!

The Country is in a recession and Obama choose to throw lavish weekly wednesday parties... These parties add up to one thing, votes! He's planning for his next election and his guests are all high dollar profiles. I find it sad, the best thing he could do to set a great example for the people is to become real! We as the people are losing our businesses and homes as he lives it up with his expensive parties weekly!
Also, wouldn't it be interesting to allow each candidate running for office an equal amount of expense money to cover everything from top to bottom. By doing this we could truly see who is the saviest at proper spending. Who is able to get the most for their money. This would also give us a great idea who spends the wisest!
Imagine that for one minute... Honesty and fair play!

I'll bet the league of the unemployed just felt a lot warmer and fuzzier knowing this party was held. They hung on every line as the gala was described by ET and hoped for a peek at their favorite Hollywood star or bureaucrat.

Then they returned to worrying about where to live next month as their house is foreclosed, and how to scrape up a few bucks for a small thing or two under the tree for the kids.

Well, there's little to no way the truth can be spun and twisted long-term without people noticing. The mistakes are getting more and more pronounced, there's less and less fawning coverup by the media - and the left is getting a really good example of what happens when 'reality-based thinking' and actual reality collide. And it's an ugly wreck when that happens.
