It turns out that the couple who crashed the White House state dinner, Michaele and Tareq Salahi, did meet with President Obama. The White House released the following photo on its Flickr account.
No one knows how the couple made it past security without and invite, but the AP report provides the best clue,
Bravo Media has confirmed that Michaele Salahi is being considered as a participant in the upcoming "The Real Housewives of D.C." program and on the day of the dinner was being filmed around Washington by Half Yard Productions, the producer of the program."Half Yard Productions was told by Michaele and Tareq Salahi that they had been invited to the State Dinner. We took them at their word and filmed their preparations for the event. Half Yard Productions had no part in planning their presence at the event," said Abby Greensfelder of Half Yard Productions.
I'm guessing they showed up at the entrance with a film crew following them, and something to the effect of "why would we be here with a film crew if we weren't invited" was said, and they were let in...
Update: Apparently I missed this Washington Post article that pretty much confirms my theory....

The Washington Post article doesn't confirm your theory.
It actually disproves your theory completely. The film crew never stepped foot on the White House grounds.

The first check point passed them through believing they would be subject to further checks up the line.
The following is purely but vividly imagined.
Hmmmm...."Tareq Salahi" not on the list? Let someone else check them out. Smith, Steinman, Stuart, or Svenson, not on the list, "da Chicago heave ho."

Look on the bright side. If they get their TV reality show, maybe they can fit Barry in each week in a bit part. Win-win.

Everyone seems to be making a big deal out of the breach in security from this. I don't get it. I think our enemies probably have people around to protect the President. As far as they are concerned he is the best one we have ever had in office.

Are you so knee jerk anti wizbang to actually think and believe what you wrote?
Jesus H. on a pogo stick the author made no claim the film crew got in only that their presence may have contributed to the secret service not completely vetting the couple.
That was his assertion and the WaPo article confirmed it, nothing more, nothing less.
Let me guess, your eyes are brown because you're so full of shit.

What a crazy story. Someone from the Secret Service had to get fired/reassigned for this. I wonder what they said to get in, and if they lied about who they were or their credentials.

The Secret Service would do well to read up on what happened to Ahmed Shah Massoud of the Northern Alliance. Hint: it involved letting in people with "video cameras."
Also look up Wilhelm Voigt, but substitute German uniforms for paparazzi paraphenalia.
Is there now some Obama crony running the Secret Service instead of the pros? One would think so, considering that's who's running every other agency that is supposed to be keeping the country safe and prosperous.
Explains a lot.
