"Endangerment" Declaration Pending

The EPA is poised to officially declare carbon dioxide a public danger this week. Such an "endangerment" decision is necessary for the EPA to move ahead early next year with new emission standards for cars. It can also lead to a governmental stranglehold on large-scale CO2 emitters such as power stations, cement kilns, crude-oil refineries and chemical plants would have to curb their greenhouse gas output.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the pronouncement was obviously timed to provide President Obama some apparent legitimacy during the climate summit in Copenhagen:

Senior EPA officials said in November the agency would likely make a final decision in December around the time of the summit. Joe Mendelson, Global Warming Policy Director for National Wildlife Federation, said the endangerment decision, would happen at absolutely the right time. "With House legislation passed, a bipartisan Senate bill in the works, and strong EPA action a virtual certainty, the president goes to Copenhagen with a very strong hand to play," Mr. Mendelson said.

It will be truly fascinating to watch an oblivious Obama advance his global warming agenda in light of the crushing ClimateGate scandal. His advancement of the waning theory in the face of devastating evidence to the contrary may damage his reputation in other countries. Even with this fabricated "endangerment" declaration from the EPA, the President runs a grave risk of exposing himself on an international stage as the one-world globalist many in this country have figured out.

The fatal mistake Mr. Obama is making is he truly believes the rest of the world views him as an international leader. While he does not necessarily try to lead other nations, he absolutely governs the United States of America with the interests of the world over those of his own country. But skepticism about global warming has increased dramatically across the world and the ClimateGate crisis is far more serious than Obama realizes. Even though millions across the world do embrace globalists, the sheer evidence against the global warming farce may prove to be a gigantic international embarrassment for Obama.

The good news is that such a finding and its crippling effects on the economy will forever establish the link between Democrats and environmental extremists who use junk science to impose their religious beliefs on the nation. Whatever the EPA does can be undone when the public comes to its senses and elects Republicans with a true mandate for change. In the interim, the real danger is the possibility of the Senate ratifying a treaty to cut carbon emissions that has no escape clause built in. Then a future Republican government may have to threaten war if the world doesn't accept the principle that no treaty based on fraudulent science is binding.

The only way a person can be embarrassed is if they hear what the other side is saying.

Obama continues to live in a bubble with his cronies. Has he heard anything or anybody (tea party protesters?, Iranian student dissidents?, Honduran constitutionalists?) that indicates he might think he is making a bad decision or moving in the wrong direction?

Or perhaps hs hears them the same way he heard Rev. Wright for lo those many years...through the fog of me, me, me, what am I, I, I going to say or do next. What a wonderful person I am, etc. etc.

Jim Addison:

This is first time the EPA has relied solely upon outside data in making such a determination. Guess whose data they are using? Yep, IPCC, the clearinghouse for the chaps involved in the data-fudging.

Easy to understand how this all came about. Picture yourself a lonely, underpaid, under-appreciated Ph.D. in climate research, competing futilely against even the astronomy department for grant money and office space. Then, suddenly, your field becomes of critical importance. Reporters are calling you for quotes. Prime office space opens up. Grants roll in from governments and foundations and you are awash in cash and prestige.

Could you then speak up and say, "Oops, terribly sorry, we've made an error. Forgot that troublesome Medieval Warming Period - smoothed it over on the graphs. Never mind!"? And become a laughingstock as you return to obscurity?

Hell, no! You keep feeding the goose which is laying you golden eggs, and get rid of anything which might give it the slightest indigestion.

Which is precisely what happened.

The TANG docs were shown to be false.
The data that the 'scientists' used was discarded because it was true and did not fit their agenda of showing that the earth was warming instead of cooling like it is.

In short you argument sucks because the comparison between the two is totally oposite of what you are trying to lie about.

My point was that, for these scientists, it didn't matter what the data showed, they already knew the "truth," and if that means using bad data, well, it's "fake but accurate."

The same was true in the TANG memo case. Rather and Mapes KNEW that Bush had lied about his service, so they didn't give a fig if the memoes were inconsistent with military documents, happened to have fonts that matched Microsoft Word Times Roman, or were typeset, rather than typed.

In both cases, it was a matter of "Conclude first, find proof later, and if there is no proof, substitute crap."
