The Coward at the Justice Department

Is Eric Holder's Justice Department preventing its employees from speaking to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights?

Say it ain't so:

Could it be that President Obama's legal team is imploding due to a voter intimidation case involving the New Black Panther Party? So many new developments regarding the Black Panther case occurred in the latter half of last week that it is hard keeping up with them all. But none of them look good for the Obama administration or for Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.'s Justice Department.

The case involves paramilitary-garbed Panthers caught on videotape (which was backed by copious testimony) engaged in what observers say were intimidating and racially charged activities outside a Philadelphia polling booth on presidential Election Day in 2008. Even though a judge was ready to enter a default judgment against the Black Panthers, based on a case brought by career attorneys at the Justice Department, the Obama administration suddenly decided last spring to drop three of the four cases and punish the final one with an incredibly weak injunction.

Controversy, accompanied by continued administration stonewalling, has ensued ever since.

The new developments last week were as follows:

First, a Web site called "Main Justice" reported on Wednesday (and we have since confirmed) that the Justice Department has, for now, ordered two key career attorneys not to comply with a subpoena about the case issued by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. The commission, by law, has explicit power to issue subpoenas, and the law mandates that "all federal agencies shall cooperate fully with the commission." The Justice Department, however, is citing internal regulations stemming from a 1951 case to support its order to ignore the subpoena.

Read the whole thing here.

Recall that Eric Holder said we were a "a nation of cowards" on the issue of race.

For a refresh on that, take a trip back in time to this excellent post by our own Lorie Byrd.

Which now brings us to my 2 questions:

1) Who are the cowards now?

2) What are they hiding?

My personal message to Eric Holder: We need not cower in the face of this subpoena.

It appears that they are attempting to avoid the subpoena because they fell that they are guilty. Mr. Holder tried to get them off because he was afraid that they would reveal their connection to the Obama campaign, just like ACORN.

Eric:

This story is incredible yet the MSM is ignoring almost completely.

Imagine if the players were reversed. Imagine this wasn't the New Black Panthers, it was the KKK instead. Imagine this wasn't Barack Obama and Eric Holder, but George Bush and John Ashcroft.

Do you think the media would ignore a story where John Ashcroft dismissed charges of voter intimidation against KKK members? Do you think the media would ignore a story where the Attorney General refused to respond to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and ignored a subpoena?

If the players were reversed, the media would be all over this and the Democrats would be calling for impeachment proceedings.

And you know what, they would be right. This is serious stuff being done. Dismissing the prosecution of voter intimidation against your opponent, ignoring subpoenas and ordering DOJ employees to ignore subpoenas in violation of Federal Law seems to me to fit the definition of High Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Be wary of what you wish for. It is another case of a still worse Vice-president. Does algore come to mind. Do you want the blithering idiot, that is the second man in charge running this country? I for one don't. The only way to make things sane again, is to impeach both of them and let the Republican Speaker of the House be the President. That would be much better than what will happen, if just Obama is impeached.

The Kenyan I 1/2 black. The guy at the justice department is somewhat black. The Black Thugs at the voting poll were black. Does none of this surprise you? According to this crowd the white man is always to blame. Don't believe this? Ok then here is one for you....The Kenyan has bowed allover the world to foreign leaders. However he did not bow to the Queen of England. WHY? She is White. But all the White Liberals out there will say I am a hater of Black People or Kenyans. Nope! I just say what is obvious. I am not political correct. I tell the truth.

The Kenyan and the Justice Dept. are racist for letting one of their color go free. There is nothing racist about what I said. Nothing but the facts. No get your head out you butt and read things correctly.
