Obama, Your B+ in National Security Won't Cut It

National Security is the President's most important job.

When American's lives are on the line, a B+ simply won't do.

A B+ means we are right most of the time.

A B+ means the system works, except of course when it doesn't.

A B+ means most threats are stopped, but some are ignored.

As has been said before, the terrorists only have to be right once. We must be right 100% of the time.

With that in mind, here are my suggestions for improving your grade in 2010:

1) Get Pelosi on board with extending the Patriot Act.
2) Reverse yourself on Guantanamo
3) Fix the Watch List (Call Jeff Jonas, ok?)
4) Support the People of Iran
5) Free the SEALs.
6) Make honor killings a hate crime.

Extra Credit:

1) Drill Baby, Drill!

2) Fire Janet "the system worked" Napolitano and replace her with Andy McCarthy.

Its really quite shocking that the Republicans have a hold on the leader of the TSA and that they voted against bomb-sniffing technologies for the TSA, all over petty ideological issues. They place their political gain above the direct safety of the American people. And the loudest whiners and critics--DeMint, Hoekstra, King, Pence, Ryan--have been personally instrumental in holding up the TSA administrator and they all voted against bomb-sniffing technology. They have endangered the American people for political gain. And now they whine! Republicans are shameful, placing their neo-Fascist ideology above the safety of the American people.

JC Hammer:

Republicans have cast votes against the key TSA funding measure that the 2010 appropriations bill for the Department of Homeland Security contained, which included funding for the TSA, including for explosives detection systems and other aviation security measures. In the June 24 vote in the House, leading Republicans including John Boehner, Pete Hoekstra, Mike Pence and Paul Ryan voted against the bill, amid a procedural dispute over the appropriations process. A full 108 Republicans voted against the conference version, including Boehner, Hoekstra, Pence, Michelle Bachmann, Marsha Blackburn, Darrell Issa and Joe Wilson.

"Rep. Peter King of New York, the committee's ranking Republican, voted against the bill, saying it is inappropriate to make a major change to TSA's workforce while the agency still lacks a permanent administrator." There is no permanent administrator because the rethugs are blocking the appointment! And King is one of the loudest shouters when it comes to security. Rep. King put your vote where your mouth is and do the right thing the next time. The "party of no" is a sad sack of an opposition.

There were two failures that led to this near catastrophe. First was a flawed intelligence system that allowed this man to board the plane. The second was that he was able to smuggle explosives onto the plane. The GOP has played unacceptable game with funding for TSA that could have detected the explosives. The repubs don't have the decency, honesty or character to admit they have been wrong on this issue, and for the pettiest and most political reasons.

Incredibly, DeMint had the chutzpah to make the rounds of the weekend talk shows, arguing that Democrats had only themselves to blame for the vacancy atop the TSA. With all respect, if the senator really cares about the safety of the traveling public, he should shut up and stop invoking a fear of unions as a reason to block the appointment of an independent TSA administrator.

Yeah, let's put another political incompetent in charge of something important. After all, Janet's doing 'one heck of a job'. Besides, gotta take care of our "union friends", what with elections just around the corner.

Excuse me but that tree you're barking up is the wrong one.

IT is unless you can explain how any TSA improvements you suggest the "rethuglians" blocked can possibly improve safety in airports outside the US of A.

Does the TSA have some international authority we don't know about?

As for a TSA head appointment being blocked by Sen. Jim DeMint among others why is that important?

The position isn't vacant is it? Surely you have some knowledge or certifiable proof the pending head of the TSA is better or would have done something different right?

And BTW, you do know that Obama waited 243 days in office before making a nomination for TSA head right?

Funny you have no condemnation for that do you?

P.S. Yo do know part of this dispute is over the unionization of TSA employees right?

You know, unionization... more ass kissing from this admin to one of it's largest monetary contributors.

This person should have never been allowed near an Airport.

He had no Passport
He had no luggage
He had a 1 way ticket
He paid for his ticket with cash.

He got Visa in 2008.
It should have been pulled When UK refused to re-issue his Visa
When his dad reported him.

Judas Priest this guy should have set off every red flag.

There does not need to be any new rules we just have to enforce the rules we have in place.
We have a list of 500,000 names .
That a easy database search done in under a few seconds. Hell he do not even use a fake name. I would hope we would have some biometrics in the database to do some other searches.

A non American permeant resident or citizen does have a right to fly into the US. If your on a list, no flying into America.

They should have met this guy with MP-5 and bomb sniffing dogs and he should have never been allowed US airspace.

That the true issue.

Yeah, you're right it's drivel when you state " The GOP has played unacceptable game with funding for TSA that could have detected the explosives."

Lets be totally honest shall we and first admit no matter what the TSA did or didn't do, that no matter who was or could be in charge of the TSA the "Gonad Bommber" would have shill gotten thru.

A point I made and you dismissed as "drivel."

Keeping with the honesty theme, sen. dodd [so sponsored by Lieberman and Carper] diverted 4.5 million dollars that was to be used for "for screening operations and the amount for explosives detection systems."

Instead the cash was used for "firefighter grants." If you hadn't noticed sen. dodd was fully supported by the firemans union all thru his failed [thank God] run for the presidency.

More ass kissing of unions. How not so shocking.
