U.S. retaliation in Yemen against Al Qaeda will likely now not happen

Yemen's leaders suggest that such action might offend/inflame Al Qaeda... that will obviously be impacting on Obama... can't be offending Muslims you know:

In its strongest language yet, Yemen's government declared Thursday that there are limits to its military cooperation with the United States, warning that any direct U.S. action in this impoverished Middle East nation could bolster the popularity of Islamic militants.

"If there is direct intervention by the United States, it will strengthen al-Qaeda," warned Rasha al-Alimi, Yemen's deputy prime minister for security and defense. "We cannot accept any foreign troops on Yemeni territory."

The statement underscored the rising concern among Yemen's leadership of a domestic backlash that could politically weaken the government and foment more instability. In recent days, top Yemeni officials have publicly downplayed their growing ties to Washington, fearing they will be perceived by their opponents as weak and beholden to the United States.

It is the United States that at this time appears weak and beholden to Muslim radicals the world over, a weakness and a beholdenness laid directly at the feet of Barack Hussein Obama...

... mmm, mmm, mmm.

If you're attacked by a mountain lion, knocked to the ground and your entrails are being eaten by the mountain lion DO NOT STRIKE THE LION!! It will only "offend/inflame" the lion!

Remember that helpful tip next time you're walking in the woods.

That war-monger FDR obviously ignored this advice after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. We SHOULD have rolled on our backs, Golden Retriever style, and avoided "offending/inflaming" the Empire of Japan.

Of all times in history to elect a weak liberal president, this has to be the worst of times.
Being a woman, we were once instructed that if someone where trying to rape us that we were to be passive and "go along with it" as not to get killed as well. Then found that was the wrong advice, we are now being told to fight like crazy, yell "fire", kick, go for the eyes, etc.
In short, passive does not win in these cases, once they determine you are weak you are finish.
Even in the animal kingdom they know this, they alway go after the weak for a kill.

Inflaming Al Quaida terrorists is an excellent idea. I'm thinking napalm, white phosphorus, and hellfire missles for starters.

I suggest a night training mission by a Delta force team. Visit the ruler of Yemen in his bedroom and make it clear that he can die at the hands of AQ or he can disappear forever if they have to come back. AQ may not get him but he'll know who will.

Weegie:

The claim isn't that Al Qaeda will be offended at the US, but that any US incursions could turn a large segment of the Yemenis against the current government, and possibly overthrow it.

That would leave the radical Muslims in charge of Yemen, which is claimed to be the worst case scenario.

But the question to ask is: just how much worse is that scenario? After all, Al Qaeda is already operating openly there now, and are mounting attacks on the US from there. The Yemen government seems helpless to prevent it. The Yemen government has even been complicit in taking in Gitmo detainees and letting them go.

Perhaps our President, or his teleprompter, can explain just how beneficial it is to withhold taking action (seen as a weakness, a failure of will), so to allow a corrupt and inept Yemen government to stay in power. And, by staying in power, block our ability to take on Al Qaeda.

As I see it, propping up the Yemeni government by letting Al Qaeda operate freely there is the worst case scenario. By withholding action, we prevent ourselves the ability to kick terrorist ass. We gain nothing by the status quo; it will be seen as yet another lack of will on the US's part, which is what previously swelled the ranks of the terrorists.

So, I say let's act like a superpower and take out Al Qaeda.

Or am I missing something? Is there a flaw in my logic?

Actually, the fact that the "Israeli" commandos who will be taking out Al Qaida operatives in Yemen could not speak a word of Hebrew does not mean that we lack deniability. Of course we tell them that we didn't do it. If it was not the "Israelis", it must have been the Roswell aliens.

Remember, the CIA is required to say no comment no matter how idiotic the accusation or question might be. They would be required to say no comment even when asked if there is a station chief on the moon.
