More please... much more...

As in millions more:

A group of Canadian and U.S. Islamic leaders on Friday issued a fatwa, or religious edict, declaring that an attack by extremists on the two countries would constitute an attack on the 10 million Muslims living in North America.

The 20 imams associated with the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada said this marked the first fatwa by the Muslim clergy declaring attacks on Canada and the U.S. to be attacks on Muslims.

"In our view, these attacks are evil, and Islam requires Muslims to stand up against this evil," the imams said in their fatwa.

Calgary Imam Syed Soharwardy, founder of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada, said attacks on Canadian or U.S. soil are essentially attacks on Muslims.

"We are part of this society," he said. "This is my home, and if anybody attacks on Canada, in fact, attacks on my home."

The imams said it is a duty of every Muslim in Canada and the U.S. to safeguard the two countries.

"They must expose any person, Muslim or non-Muslim, who would cause harm to fellow Canadians or Americans," they said.

"It is religious obligation upon Muslims, based upon the Qur'anic teachings, that we have to be loyal to the country where we live," said Soharwardy. "We have no problems in Canada; we can practise our religion freely."

In Montreal, one of the signatories of the edict, Imam Nasir Qadri of the Anwar Musallah Mosque, said he spoke to his followers at his mosque about the issue Friday.

Most of them call Canada home and feel personally threatened by the attempted attacks, he said.

The 20 imams who signed the fatwa come from British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and Houston.

With a billion muslims in the world, there's got to be a ton of imams out there... and if there are 200 muslims for every imam, then that'd mean there are 5 million imams across the globe...  and 20 have spoken out...  that's .0004% of the population...

Let's see how many more will join this fatwa before we get too excited about this.

H/T to Mike, who as a keystone member of the Religious Left would of course be taking this .0004% and trumpeting it.

Given the islamic concept of Al-taqiyya I'm not holding my breath.

Al-taqiyya means that lying is acceptable when done: to reconcile two people, to reconcile husband and wife, in war.

This concept has been applied to political negotiations with the enemy and we have seen it with the palestinians and Israel. The palis say one thing in negotiations and then when they get what they ask for they keep on with their fighting and bring fresh demands.

I don't believe that these leaders are sincere and won't be until they actually take concrete action to stop their coreligionists. Sorry, too many videos of 'moderate' muslims dancing in the streets and applauding American deaths.

What would be wrong with imams speaking out against terrorist attacks because these attacks are murderous at their core, not because a Muslim might get hit by some shrapnel?

Nothing, but for the fact, as pointed out, they're .0004%. Where are the rest? Or do they not care that murderers have hijacked their religion?

And what exactly is that view? That words nobody believes they mean are going to make a difference for a bunch of ideological zealots? That these words that nobody believes absolves both them and the 100's of millions of supposed 'moderate' muslims from have to take any meaningful action?

I'll believe the latter of those two because that is what their actions tell me. They will make a few worthless pronouncements and then go and donate to their favorite islamic charity which is more often than not a front organization for funneling money to Islamic Jihad or Hezbollah.

When they start standing up and turning these bastards in I'll start believing them. Until then it's just another lie and BS propaganda.

It is noteworthy, I think, to realize that Syed Soharwardy once filed an Alberta Human Rights Commission complaint against Ezra Levant for daring to republish the Danish political cartoons that got parts of the Islamic world a bit upset a while back. Take at least his words with a pinch of salt....
