Today we learned that Sarah Palin signed a multi-year deal with Fox News. She will be a political analyst and have the opportunity to host periodic Fox News specials. The Washington Post reports:
Sarah Palin, who regularly rips the media, is becoming a television pundit at a place where she's likely to feel at home.A Fox News executive says the network will shortly announce that the former vice-presidential nominee is signing on as a contributor.
Palin, who resigned as governor of Alaska last summer, will appear as a commentator on various Fox shows. She will also host an occasional program that will examine inspirational tales involving ordinary Americans.
Palin will join Mike Huckabee as a Fox contributor who was also involved in the 2008 campaign. The exposure can only help Palin if she decides to pursue a 2012 presidential bid.
I don't see her running for elected office any time soon. She resigned as governor of Alaska because she couldn't govern due to all the nuisance and bogus ethics law suits from her hateful critics. If she runs for any office again she will just be targeted, again, by those same people. She made it clear the best way for her to affect change throughout the country is from outside elected office. Her deal with Fox News will help her do just this by giving her a significantly larger audience. At this point we don't know when she will begin appearing on Fox.

The bogus ethics complaints tactic only works in Alaska due to what many consider a poorly crafted law that required Palin to defend at her own cost. In all other states and in the Federal government an elected official's legal defense under similar circumstances is paid for by taxpayers.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing Palin on Fox. If liberals go bananas when Palin tweets they'll go berserk when she cuts loose on them in front of millions of viewers. Like her dad said, Sarah didn't quite, she's just reloading.

The Democrats will regret their continued attacks on her once she returned to Alaska. I don't know that the politically motivated legal attacks would be a factor, Kim, although you may be right. The problem she had was the overly permissive state laws of Alaska, which permitted any and all ethics complaints, no matter how trivial, to be filed, anonymously, at no cost to the complainant.
Federal law is a different set of rules, and our legislators have spent years insulating themselves from such legal potshots. Otherwise half our noble politicians would spend their entire careers in court.
I thought she was better insulated as a private citizen, because she had libel and slander as valid defenses.
All that said, Fox will give her the bully pulpit she needs to help us clean house next November. I hope she kicks butt.

This sort of contract arrangement has some real pitfalls for Sarah Palin that can't be overlooked. It locks her into a contract that she can be sued for once she decides to quit. Further, it doesn't offer near the pay that hosting her own regular show could provide. And it probably effectively prevents her from building an effective campaign organization to run for president in 2012 as well. Further, it doesn't give Palin any opportunity to build a base of political support outside the core of mostly conservative FOX News viewers.
My best guess is that at least some of the ethics allegations against Palin might have had enough legs that by quitting as governor, it effectively ended any stronger case. It would be difficult to imagine someone who is entirely innocent of any valid allegations to freely give up their office. But regardless, Palin remains an erratic if not unfocused entity, and not someone who sticks with anything for very long. I only hope that Palin has some sort of an opt-out clause in her FOX contract once she quits that job to prevent a serious breach of contract suit.
I never really disliked Palin. But, I just found her to be a lightweight political entity compared to so many more serious politicians. I just don't quite understand her appeal myself. So someone explain it to me, please?

Now Sarah has a venue to stick it to the trolls, and the best part of that is all she has to do is report the truth. Bet you trolls cant stand the fact that while you have been able to throw your attacks from behind her back, now she can look you in the face (on the HIGHEST RATED NETWORK) and call you out for the lowlifes you are.
Lightweight politicians??????? What is the "annointed one"? Stupidity?? Joe Biden, Nancy Piglosi, Hairy Reed, 57 state Barry, ad naseum

If only she would, but her new masters are smarter than that. They will keep Sarah on a short leash. She won't be allowed to be an attack dog like Beck and O'Reilly. They'll try to prop her up and make her look presidential.
She's a good little money maker for Murdoch. He's not going to allow her to wander far.

All Sarah has to do is require an honest answer from a politician (either party) and I believe she knows which questions to ask, dissembling and evasiveness not allowed. Wow, that would be a refreshing new program. Call it TRANSPARENCY name names, confront liars, cheats and thieves

That's just the stuff I can recall since the weekend. Evil cabal. We get it. Blame it on somebody, blame it on everybody. We who are about to puke salute you. Brilliant reparte'. You're like a gift-wrapped bowling ball. You don't even need to open the package to know what's inside.

Something is strange here re Steve Green.
Above he quoted:
"Not too surprising, since the owner of the WSJ, Rupert Murdoch took Palin under his wing even before she quit her governor job, and his private jet was at the Anchorage airport waiting for her to get on board right after her speech."
I was curious and googled a phrase from that quote. It turns up at:
http://www.asiasentinel.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2068&Itemid=173
where a comment left by KarenJ , September 24, 2009 contains....

They've got some really impressive artistry going! You progressives, man, I just can't figure out why people aren't signing on to your belief systems and tossing money at you until you're buried in it!
Couldn't be because your beliefs seem to continually be expressed in the most ugly and repulsive ways possible, could it? I mean, I know they're what gets YOU off, but maybe not everyone's into slasher porn, you know?
Yeah, well - you know... what can I say? It's not that there's anything wrong with YOU... it's just... no, no, I lie.
There's something wrong, something BAD wrong about the whole 'progressive' schtick when you've got to smear other people with the most inane or disgusting accusations in order to make your positions and candidates look even halfway presentable.
And you look in your funhouse mirror, through ideological filters, and see everything as normal and desirable that others prefer to avoid - like a dog eating what it finds in a catbox. You see 'progressives' supporting the most homophobic of groups - raging against insecticides which could save millions of lives from malaria, against GM foods that could save millions from starvation.
The death count climbs, and you revel in your 'progressive' beliefs.
God save us from do-gooders such as you.

No, Steve, it isn't. In fact, your reply didn't have a damn thing to do with what I was talking about.
I was talking about how attractive the 'progressive' movement isn't, to folks who actually bother to think about the results of their beliefs.
But then, that's typical of 'progressives'. Don't bother to address the criticism, instead spin off something else to deflect the issue.
It worked for a while. It's not working any more. The 'progressive' movement's rapidly becoming seen for the utter moral failure it actually is.
