With gasoline prices once again approaching $3.00 per gallon, you'd think public outcry over the rise would be at a fevered pitch.
You'd think that politicians, pundits, and citizenry alike would be frothing at the mouth, claiming that the president is nothing more than a puppet for the middle east oil regimes.
You'd think that people would be in hysterics, accusing the president of sleeping with the oil industry and their lobbyists.
You'd think that.
The silent acceptance of the rising price of gasoline just goes to show another line in the list of double standards pertaining to coverage of and criticism which has been and continues to be levied at President Bush.
Just another example of the main stream media purposefully ignoring a politically volatile situation for The One. Bush was bludgeoned for rising gas prices while president, with charges of lining pockets of his "oil buddies" in the U.S. oil industry to exploiting media-driven phantom ties with the likes of the Saudi royal family.
The media will not allow Obama to be criticized for energy prices spiking, since most or its members are so far aligned with the global warming crowd, they believe higher gas prices will lead to forced action upon the American people to participate in the "Green energy" movement.
They have finally propped up an ally in the White House who shares the same warped vision as they do, and they will not participate in the type of destructive demagoguery in which they demonized George Bush.
True to form, attacks on Obama's handling of the economy, jobs, energy, and national security have been, if not non-existent, purposefully mis-directed . Perpetuation of the United States as a global behemoth consuming and destroying the world in its quest for an undeserving lifestyle will walk hand in hand with a President who has the exact same opinion.
While the root of the nation's ills continue to be labeled as by-products of George Bush and his administration, the ruling class and their complicit media hacks march right past the calculated and purposeful destruction of America's inherent right to progress.

You conspiracy-theory loonies are getting wackier an wackier.
Gasoline prices are rising slowly rather than jumping quickly as they did several years ago.
That, plus the obvious, glaring fact that gasoline is still cheaper than it was back in the $4 days -- and the obvious, glaring fact that we've had gasoline at these prices before so it's nothing new - all adds to consumer complacency.

How about the great ABC Nightline feature, in the interest of so-called "public information," where once a month or so, they would list U.S. casualties in Iraq. Solemn music played while the names slowly scrolled down and I believe that pictures of the soldiers would also be shown. ABC's line was that they would not be adequately doing their job if this montage was not shown.
Does anyone remember this grand display appearing even once in the 12 months that "Dear Leader" has been in charge? Doesn't seem so damn important anymore, does it?

Really, Steve? Gas is cheaper at $3 as compared to $4? You, my friend, are a financial wizard.
So the fact that prices are rising slower than before takes away from the financial effect on people's wallets how? At some point, prices went through $3 to get to $4. Whether we reach $4 in a week or 3 months, it still hurts, regardless of how long it may be strung out.
Gosh, it is so unlike a liberal to bring up race where it need not be interjected. Your point with this was what? To show just how saturated your "thinking" is with racial bigotry?

I agree: this is another in a long list of stories the MSM isn't reporting because it goes against their personal agenda. When you devalue you currency, as the democrats have done and are continuing to do, the cost of commodities goes up. And one of the basic commodities that is going up is oil. And once that happens, all energy and transportation costs will go up. Massive inflation is just around the corner, and the price of oil and gasoline is just the first step.
Bend over America: your change is coming right up, and there's no hope to avoid it.

There have been more "innocent" civilians killed by Obama using drones but you hear nary a word. There have been two terrorist attacks on our soil since Obama has been in office but no really in depth reporting on how or why. The press is waiting for Obama to make up his mind on which way to go. Reid called Obama a negro that can turn on and off the "ebonics" switch but if it wasn't for Fox and other conservative outlets, the story would be ignored.

Why'd you do it? What kind of statement were you attempting to make? There is certainly no context for its legitimate use, whether meant as a serious addition to the discussion or as some sort of an attempt at sardonic humor.
Why don't you explain to everybody what it was you were trying to convey?

Back on topic, Kevino above is the only one so far posting that has a grasp of the problem.
It's a money supply issue. When the treasury prints currency to cover up congressional incompetence, the value of the dollar goes down. When the value of the dollar slips, one gallon of oil costs more than it did yesterday.
Toss a little negative global warming into the picture, and demand goes up, raising oil prices even further. We see this same phenomenon every July 4 and every Labor Day.
Commodities gamblers on Wall Street exacerbate the problem by bidding up the EXPECTED cost of oil.
Demand will go down when the temps moderate in a month or two. It remains to be seen what will happen to the dollar.
But it won't be good as long as Congress is in session.

As a technical aside, notice the MSM hacks pushing the old 'core inflation is flat' meme. Point me to a person that neither eats nor uses fuel.
A Wendy's Baconator was $6 (after taxes) last year; now it's over $8; anything else at the local grocer's up more than 10%.
The worst part of this is inflation induced by Congess-scum buying off their constituents - and the current Douche-bag-crats won't even keep their seats.
