When will the MSM finally weigh in on all this?

I mean how many hits does the global warming crowd have to take before media in the United States take note?

A STARTLING report by the United Nations climate watchdog that global warming might wipe out 40% of the Amazon rainforest was based on an unsubstantiated claim by green campaigners who had little scientific expertise.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) said in its 2007 benchmark report that even a slight change in rainfall could see swathes of the rainforest rapidly replaced by savanna grassland.

The source for its claim was a report from WWF, an environmental pressure group, which was authored by two green activists. They had based their "research" on a study published in Nature, the science journal, which did not assess rainfall but in fact looked at the impact on the forest of human activity such as logging and burning. This weekend WWF said it was launching an internal inquiry into the study.

This is the third time in as many weeks that serious doubts have been raised over the IPCC's conclusions on climate change. Two weeks ago, after reports in The Sunday Times, it was forced to retract a warning that climate change was likely to melt the Himalayan glaciers by 2035. That warning was also based on claims in a WWF report.

References to WWF makes sense...  I mean, the World Wrestling Federation is as credible as the IPCC wouldn't you say?

Are you seriously trying to suggest that anthropogenic global ickiness ISN'T caused by fat white Republicans and their SUV's?

How many times does it have to be proven? You might as well blame it on sunspots or something.

The matter is settled. Stop bringing it up.

Edward Sisson Author Profile Page:

The press, having dedicated its reputation to a statement such as "X is true" (in this case, that human industrial activity is causing the globe to warm) will never subsequently report "X is false." To do so would destroy its credibility not only as to issue X, but to all future subjects.

Thus what happens is, once it is impossible to keep saying "X is true," silence reigns on issue X, and instead, the press waits until it has a basis for saying "Z is true." And then all the reporting is on issue Z.

This is how the press always operates. The only change that occurs in human societies is that eventually the public stops paying attention to the press -- and then new forms of a new kind of press emerge, and the same cycle then operates in the new medium, whatever it happens to be.

I always did wonder what passed for "science" in the AGW/CC true-believer's mind.

It's appearing more and more that the science of AGW/CC is about as scientific as phrenology.

Ok, you ask the question "When", so an answer is in order here. I believe the MSM is following pretty much the same protocol the NY Times uses to handle this type of problem (where they have failed to cover a current event or issue in a timely fashion). They only produce an article when they can talk about the event in a retrospective how-it-came-to-happen article, which is to say the event has more or less completely unfolded. The Times generally produces astonishingly well written and complete articles in these cases.

It's all a matter of timing. When they (MSM) feel they a conspicuous by their absence, they will produce reports based on the NY Times template.
