That would be my state of Virginia:
Virginia's Democratic-controlled state Senate passed measures Monday that would make it illegal to require individuals to purchase health insurance, a direct challenge to the party's efforts in Washington to reform health care.
The bills, a top priority of Virginia's "tea party" movement, were approved 23 to 17 as five Democrats who represent swing areas of the state joined all 18 Republicans in the chamber in backing the legislation.
The votes came less than a week after President Obama implored Democrats in Washington not to abandon their health-care efforts, urging them in his State of the Union address not to "run for the hills" on the issue.
But the action in Virginia, a state that backed Obama in 2008, could indicate that the president is failing to reassure members of his own party that current reform efforts remain worthwhile. The votes also suggest that Democrats on the state level fear that supporting health-care reform could be politically damaging, and their action could put pressure on members of the state's congressional delegation who have been behind the effort.
That's interesting isn't it... politicians listening to their constituents and voting accordingly...
Damn... how novel.

Since when did the law stop Obama, Pelosi and Reid? Laws are for little people.

You know, I'm almost starting to feel sorry for Obama. His party controls both houses of Congress, the press, academia, the financial industry, the automotive industry, the major population centers, and Hollywood.
You'd think he'd be on top of the world, yet he keeps getting kicked in the nuts, both here and overseas. And he's just leaving the honeymoon phase, the good part. He's got three years to go. This is like getting your ass kicked in round one of a scheduled 15-round fight.

I'm damned thankful he can't lead. If he had enough leadership ability to lead sailors to a whorehouse, we'd be in even worse trouble than we are now.

I can see the revisionist history books now. 'President Obama was a true leader in convincing the average American it was time to play a more active role in representative government. The enthusiastic attention Americans paid to the Democrat-led politics of the Obama era was unprecedented'.

Well, when a Republican gubernatorial candidate wins virtually every county in a particular state, mostly by ridiculous margins, and then only two months later a Republican wins a major election by campaining directly against socialized medicine, in Massachusetts of all places, even Democrats will emerge from their stupors and will begin to pay serious attention.

Wonder how Nancy Pelosi will spin this tomorrow. About how 'desperately' all the people of the country long for her health care 'reform'.
Speaking of which, how do you like those Canadian politicians saying their system is soooo much better than ours:

It will be interesting to watch this unfold.
Will the bill pass the state House of Delegates? Will it be signed into law by the governor? And what will happen if it's ever tested in court against a federal insurance mandate? The Supreme Court disposed of the nullification doctrine a hundred and sixty years ago... will it allow a revival?
