Sarah Palin is a worthy heir to Ronald Reagan - a charismatic, anti-intellectual mouthing patriotic platitudes that appeal to the simple-minded who are too lazy to deal with the complex political, social, economic & scientific realities of the modern world. The less government, lower taxes mantra is music to the ears of the rich & powerful, who are hopeful that there are enough dupes among the rest of us eager to vote against their own best interests...

"The less government, lower taxes mantra is music to the ears of the rich & powerful, who are hopeful that there are enough dupes among the rest of us eager to vote against their own best interests..."

Yeah, and that isn't a left-wing platitude, of course, it's a deeply complex, nuanced, strikingly original position.

Given that the rich and powerful were gladly getting onboard the corporatist Obama plan before the peasants ruined the party, reality seems to be at odds with your Marxist mantra.

The new breed of conservatives are willing hod carriers for the rich - as is amply demonstrated on this blog on a regular basis (the recent post attacking Obama for wanting to regulate the banking industry a prime example).

I wonder if it's that they enjoy kissing the ring of power - makes them feel all special and fuzzy - of if they truly believe that Wal-Mart is a responsible employer and that the country is better off with more Wal-Marts and fewer Mom and Pop operations.

Palin, pre-speech (yesterday):

A CNN/Opinion Research Corp. national poll released Friday indicates that Americans are split on Palin, with 43 percent seeing her in a positive light and 46 percent holding an unfavorable view.

"Opinion on Sarah Palin breaks down along party lines, with 7 in 10 Democrats disliking her and 7 in 10 Republicans with a positive view of Palin. She has a net-negative rating among Independents: 42 percent favorable and 47 percent unfavorable," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "She also continues to rate better among men than women."

It'll be interesting to compare that with the result after the speech.

I would be sad for my country if this woman is who some people want to run as their president. However, I think I would much enjoy watching a debate between her and President Obama. Well, he would be debating, she would be making word salad, but still. It would make for some interesting tv.

Notice there were no teleprompters how she spoke from the heart, not with the feckless, flat, disconnected flat reading mantra of BHO. She felt connected to her words, while Barry doesn't even know what he's saying as he reads from the prompter. Leadership is style and substance: Palin has both; and BHO has none.

Jeff Blogworthy:

Steve Green proves my earlier point about liberal parasites. To demonize 'the rich' as subhuman persecutors of the rest of us is one of the most base, evil aspects of the left. They play on the wicked instincts of jealousy and greed, suggesting that they can enrich themselves by lobbying government to steal from others. How shameful. When the inevitable dire consequences of such a self-destructive economic philosophy comes crashing down on their heads, they will be blaming others still.

May you never be rich.

May you never be affluent.

May you never have more than you absolutely need.

Because then you'll be one of the The Rich, and you'll instantly become a soulless monster.

So be careful to never have more than you absolutely need.

It's all good. She's too much of a lazy loser to ever run for an office with real responsibility, witness how she jumped ship on her two previous elected positions. And if she did run as the Tea Bagger candidate (I really hope she does), it would just suck votes from the Repub candidate. She just wants money and fawning adoration. So far she's been getting both from the brain dead baggers.

True enough, Jeff, but they have it all boiled down to a few simple principles of who to hate and who to blame for everything, so they don't have to think.

The left was beaten intellectually after Reagan, and almost went away in defeat when the Berlin Wall fell and the Soviet Empire collapsed. Their resurgence was based on standard Marxist theory - they no longer worry about the argument, they just lie as it suits their purposes.

Whether or not you think of her as "presidential", she's kicking butt, for

"My guess is that 20%ers wa... (Below threshold)
JLawson:

"My guess is that 20%ers want stupid people to run the country"

We're trying that now. Frankly, it seems the educated, liberal, 'anointed', properly schooled, inbred semi-aristocracy that's in control is fucking it up royally. Trillion-dollar deficits for a decade? Increasing taxes to pay for more 'stimulus'? Even with a majority in the House and Senate they can't get the things that are 'absolutely essential' passed? And could you tell me again how having government - already $1.6 tril in debt for this fiscal year - take over health care will somehow make it all more efficient and cost effective?

Oh, wait - they'll make it work by 'taxing the rich'.

Well, that's working really well for California, isn't it? Promise the voters every little liberal wet-dream program you can imagine in order to win votes, to be paid for by taxes on those evil rich scum... And how about New York? Oh, I forgot - the rich are MOVING OUT of the city - the taxes are getting too high!

As far as the fascism and theocracy crap goes, I'm sure you're quite a true believer in it. Tell me, were you certain that Bush was going to suspend the 2004 election to institute a theocratic government? And when that didn't happen were you proclaiming loudly that he was going to cancel the 2008 election and institute a Christian-centered theocracy that'd rival Islam as far as subjugation of women go?

I'd suggest you look up the definition of psychological projection, 'indie', 'cause I'm thinking you're screaming about it because you'd really, really love to see it happening with the Dems in control.

Folks on the right? Or even the middle? Hell, we've got enough to do living our own lives - why in the hell would we want to control anyone else?

Hockey moms support their teams and root for them to win. Obama's wife is proud of America for the first time, Sarah has ALWAYS been proud of America. Sarah is demonstrably a quiet Christian, The Obamas subscribe to GOD DAMN AMERICA. Obama thinks there are 57 states. Sarah knows there are 50, as she was GOVERNOR of the 50th state. The $100,000 speaking fee was returned to the cause. How did Obama go from a freeloader to multimillionaire?

Rather than continue to point out the obvious, and keep listing them, this should pretty much sum it up:
THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA GAVE US OBAMA - NOW THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA IS DOING ITS WORST TO DESTROY SARAH PALIN. What better recommendation to elect her President?

Tell us you wouldn't be all over Obama for writing notes IN HIS FREAKING PALM. And this wasn't a speech, where one could see using index cards to keep on pace. She was asked a question in an interview and couldn't answer it without looking bullet at points on her hand. And this just moments after she dissed Obama for being a "charismatic guy with a teleprompter".
