Mayor of Las Vegas responds to Obama invitation:
Mayor Oscar Goodman has refused an invitation to meet with President Obama when he arrives in town on Thursday. Mayor Goodman called President Obama a slow learner after he told Americans not to blow money on a weekend in Las Vegas if they were saving to put their kids through college.
"I've got other things to do quite frankly for my constituents here in Las Vegas who rely on me to do the right thing as a mayor," explained Mayor Goodman.
Mayor Goodman has more important things like attend budget meetings during a major shortfall than meet with President Barack Obama when he visits Las Vegas Friday, even though he's invited by the White House.
"Were you surprised to get that invitation in light of comments you've made before and your opinion on him and what he says," asked Action News reporter Heather Klein.
"A little bit in the sense I would think they would know that I would say I'm not coming," said Mayor Goodman.
They say time heals all wounds but not this time. Mayor Goodman not backing down after the president used Las Vegas the example of where not to go if you're saving money.
Hats off to Mayor Goodman... might more people grow the guhnads to tell this President to take a hike.

Now if only the Republicans will tell Barry to pound sand on his rigged "Health Care Summit".

"Vegas is designed to empty ones pockets of the last penny, however inartfully Obama put it."
You got that right - it's a lot like Disney World in that aspect, only more so.
But it's also something you know going in. As far as I'm concerned, Goodman's got it right. We elect a President and give him our respect (well, that's the way it's supposed to work...) In return, it'd be nice if HE were to give US a modicum of respect himself.
But hey - we're supposed to worship 'gods' like Obama and not expect anything in return for the burnt offerings of trillions of pieces of paper, right? At best, we can hope for benign neglect. It's when the gods of government start 'helping' us that we really get hammered.

Hats off to the Mayor of Las Vegas....He clearly understands that a Marxist is his sworn enemy, no doubt about it. Why give ANY political cover to a sworn Marxist who has hurt Your city twice with his malevolant mouth?

BryanD -
"Well, I respect YOU for not self-censoring that line."
I'm sure you were all "We must respect the President!" during the Bush admin, right?
I respect the office. There's no law, rule, regulation or federal statute that says I must respect the man IN the position of President. I will judge that man by what he does - and my standards may (heh, yeah...) not be the same as yours.
At least, there's no law YET.

Possibly Mayor Goodman is afraid of being charged with some wrong doing and knows that the jury would be less sympathetic if they found out that he had been hanging with Chicago thugs.
