WXYZ.com in Detroit reports that Monica Conyers, the wife of Congressman John Conyers, was just sentenced to 3 years in prison for her role in a bribery scandal:
Just moments ago in federal court, former Detroit City Council President Monica Conyers was sentenced to 37 months in prison for her roll in the city hall scandal.A team of Action News reporters are at the courthouse. They will be providing immediate reaction to the sentence.
WXYZ.com has been live blogging the sentencing and reported that Conyers threw a fit in court:
Just before sentencing, Conyers screamed "If they have their tapes, I have my tapes too. I taped Rayford, I taped Riddle. You'll be fair to me or I want to withdraw my plea."She also yelled, "What about my children? They did nothing to cause this. All I did was try to help someone I fired."
Marathon Pundit notes that as Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, John Conyers oversees the nation's prison system and asks if this will make him his wife's landlord.
Conyers has 10 days to appeal her sentence. She also must report to prison on July 1st.

Technically, prisons fall under the Justice Department, which is part of the Executive Branch.. which makes her "landlord" Eric Holder and, ultimately, Barack Obama.
Which makes things infinitely more interesting...

Anyone keeping a list of all these ethical Democrats in the era of the most ethical congress in the history of the world? I know Monica Conyers is not a member of Nancy Pelosi's congress, but her husband is and she is a Democratic politician, too.

What's she bitchin' about she was up for 5 years and got "only" 3.
Screw her this nutjob got headlines before she even took office when she allegedly got into a fight during a birthday party and slugged a woman.
After taking office Conyers put an aunt and her son on city payroll, used city police to escort her to Atlanta and Florida, had police officers chauffeur her children to private school in Oakland County and had spats with colleagues, including an infamous one with Kenneth Cockrel that ended with her calling him "Shrek."
And finally, this dimbulb lost a debate with her opponent being a ELEMENTARY school student.
Good riddence to bad rubbish.

I have no doubt that a (P)residential pardon is in the pipeline even as I type.
I cannot begin to imagine just what kind of dirt hubby has that he can threaten to reveal or even wave about to secure her release. He's practically a fossil there and I'm sure he keeps files.
