I kid you not:
The many nations helping Haiti recover from the devastating earthquake that struck there have set up their own military compounds and fly their flags at the entrances.France's tricolor, Britain's Union Jack and even Croatia's coat of arms flap in the breeze.
But the country whose contributions dwarf the rest of the world's -- the United States -- has no flag at its main installation near the Port-au-Prince airport.
The lack of the Stars and Stripes does not sit well with some veterans and servicemembers who say the U.S. government should be proud to fly the flag in Haiti, given the amount of money and manpower the U.S. is donating to help the country recover from the Jan. 12 quake.
The Obama administration says flying the flag could give Haiti the wrong idea.
"We are not here as an occupation force, but as an international partner committed to supporting the government of Haiti on the road to recovery," the U.S. government's Haiti Joint Information Center said in response to a query about the flag.
We are no longer governed by those who would consider themselves exclusively American.
We are governed by radicals.
And many of you voted for this.

Green, whether or not it's sovereign territory is moot. The point here is simple, but you've deftly sidestepped it. Obama says flying our flag at our post would imply we're there as occupiers. This implies that other countries helping with the effort there look like occupiers. That hog wash. He's kowtowing again. There's nothing wrong with our flag flying at our station there. Nothing. It's all bullshit.
And pointing out facts with whatever sources you want is not the sort of thing that gets one banned here. As many facts that are pointed out over and over by others here, which you conveniently ignore when ever they're inconvenient, won't get you banned here either.
What gets one banned is crossing a line of decorum. A line you have crossed multiple times, yet, you are still here. As rude and offensive as you are, you are still here. As often as you ignore hard and true facts, you are still here.

Because, of course, you're not suggesting they do otherwise, are you "
Hmm I seem to recall some on the left actively encouraging soldiers to shoot their commanding officers becuase we were in Iraq. I guess that seemed to have missed your attention.
BTW It is the DUTY and RESPONSIBILITY of any soldier to NOT obey an order that is illegal and or immoral. Even if that order is FROM THE PRESIDENT. Now we havent reached that point yet with Obama but hey who knows. And before you mention Bush you might want to check out the Authorization for use of force in Iraq (you know the ones so heavily supported by dems back around 2003), the one signed by Congress which basically stated that Bush could do what he deemed nescessary to protect the US against terrorists.
Post 31
"No, but if you hung a banner displaying your family crest above the door it might make people wonder why the fuck you're such a douchebag '
Are you suggesting that all the other countries which are flying flags are douchebags?
Post 37.
"So the meme that Obama made this decision is a flat out lie."
Here if you DONT KNOW ANYTHING about the military then just STFU so you dont look so STUPID.
COL BUCKER is a Public Affairs officer. He doesnt make policy. He only comments on it and those comments are in line with what the State DEPT and the Obama administration say they are. In short, he is nothing more than a mouth piece.
Now if you look back at the article I quoted above you will notice that
a. There was official communication between the military and the state department.
b. An official military PAO officer made a statement.
c. The state department was involved
d. The article quotes the OBAMA ADMINISTRATION.
Yet you try to absolve Obama from any decision making at all. I seem to recall when some young stupid soldiers at Abu Graib abusing prisoners and there were
a. NO communication with Washington
b. Did not contact the state dept
c. Didn't have a PAO officer stating their actions were justified or authorized.
d. newspaper articles quoting Bush administration officials as saying that is is the official policy.
The left wanted to try, convict and execute Bush and Cheney for war crimes. Yet you want to give Obama a free pass in this issue.

Steve
and some serious heartfelt advice
"feel free to drop the ad hominem attacks against me and go back to discussing the topic at hand"
If you want people to stop calling you a moron, saying that your statements are idiotic and calling you an Obamafanboy then do t his.
a. Stop making moronic statements.
b. Stop making idiotic statements.
c. Stop being an Obamafanboy.
Every time you post something it is like a 10 year old pitching to Mark McGuire and then crying that so many of your pitches are hit out of the park.
If you want to bark with the big dogs then stop pissing with the puppies.

I wondered for a while why someone like Steve Green would want to post on here at all. After all, I can hardly stand to read Huff Post and it's comments (where it would seem someone like Steve Green would feel more at home), makes me want to puke. Then I began to wonder if there isn't some masochistic narcissism involved here. After all, it seems every time S. Green makes a comment, the rest of the discussion eventually gets twisted around to being about him instead of the original topic. Basically, he posts an asinine comment, people respond, he returns volley with more asinine comments, until it reaches a point where discussion of the original post has been all but abandoned. Hasn't happened as much in this thread, but just wondering if anyone else has noticed this phenomenon.

Gonna try this one more time.
Funny how you have to bolster your arguments from an article someone else linked. I mean what is the matter? The items you listed in the last 2 posts werent in your dem talking points?
From your last post
"HAITI ASKED US TO TAKE DOWN THE FLAG"
But up above you stated that an Army COL made the decision and not the Obama administration.
Do try to be consistent.
And nowhere in the article did it state that Haiti asked us to take down the flag.
""Apparently, the prime minister (Jean-Max Bellerive) saw this" and thought it appeared as if the United States were taking over the airport, Luoma-Overstreet said."
Where in that paragraph did Haiti ask us to take down the flag. It stated they misunderstood the flag being flown at the airport and now we cant fly the FLAG ANYWHERE as the Obama administration has stated that we cant.
Did Haiti mention that they thought the other nations were occupying Haiti? Doesnt say that. Could it be that the Haiti ambassador doesnt like the US? Possibly. But I cant state that as fact like you tried to state as fact that Haiti asked us to take down the flag.
Again the state department was contacted and they in turn contacted the Obama administration and the decision was made to not fly the flag.
As for the Former Delta Force soldier's comments I have to ask. If he stated that he thought we were right to invade Iraq, that the US was within it rights if we had killed Saddam or that waterboarding terrorists is the right thing to do would you enthusiastically say "I believe this guy"
Yeah I didnt think so. That is what happens when you are a sheeple. People tie your statements into knots because they have no substance in them.
Try to remember these 2 pieces of advice next time you want to post.
"If you want to bark with the big dogs then stop pissing with the puppies"
and also
It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I think our resident troll has managed to move this discussion pretty far from the elements of what's happening (probably his plan, even though he's been clobbered at every turn).
I sailed under the U.S. flag. We didn't strike our colors when we entered another country's territorial waters. We didn't strike our colors when we tied up pier-side in another country. The Stars and Stripes was raised at the start of the day and lowered at the end of the day. We observed standard flag protocol underway, in home-port and all ports-of-call. It was U.S. military working under the U.S. flag.
In Haiti U.S. military personnel are serving our country on a humanitarian mission. Military personnel, serving their country. The no-flag order was wrong and demonstrates Obama's disregard toward our military.
If he didn't want the U.S. flag flying he should have sent the SEIU instead.

I wonder if the US had just air dropped billions of dollars in the country would the Haiti ambassador had thought we were trying to occupy the country.
They want our aid, our money, our blood and sweat. But apparantly our flag sends the wrong message.

One has to wonder (except for the OBamabots) at the following from the news article:
""Apparently, the prime minister (Jean-Max Bellerive) saw this" and thought it appeared as if the United States were taking over the airport, Luoma-Overstreet said"
Now I have to question.
What would we have done with the airport if we had "taken over it"? Declared it was now US property in the middle of a disaster which the whole world was watching? Maybe spearhead an invasion to take over a country with no resources, over a million dead, no infrastructure, no money and nothing that we want?
I mean did we take over Iraq with billions in oil reserves? No.
Yet here we have an ambassador who sees a US flag and suddenly thinks we are confiscating their airport?
The ambassador hasnt denied the story, but at least in my opinion, something smells as bad as a month old fish with the "official explanation" from the Obama administration.

On the topic, this plain sucks.
Obama uses the flag when it suits him, for political purposes.
Otherwise, as with this situation, we see what Obama really thinks of the military, the flag, and more importantly, our country.
