The gist of this article is that "whoops, we accidentally left the provision for children with pre-existing conditions out of the healthcare bill." I say it was no accident at all. As the article says, lawmakers are scrambling to fix this. Let's just see how many additional provisions that they were not originally able to include because of unpopularity (i.e. public funding of abortion) will now be attached to the "kid's healthcare amendment." And of course, opposition to these additional provisions will be quickly labeled as being "opposed to healthcare for sick kids."

I can't remember when so many ordinary people were this insulted over anything that politicians have done, and that includes the partisan bitterness at Bush. It seems to me that the key difference is that this isn't about partisan politics. It's outrage that Congress has completely ignored the unmistakable rejection of this takeover of our health care system in one big power grab. The apparent thinking is that once it's done, we'll just accept this piece of crap. I don't think so.
The story on the news this afternoon is that 10 of our presumably Democrat Congressman have received threats of violence. While I think it's wrong to do that, I was reminded of that Sprint commercial.

But the way to show you're pissed isn't to do up an insulting photo on the internet, or go sling insults on DU or HuffPo. Ignore them - they're irrelevant at this point. They've done all they can, and now the One they so badly wanted is showing how big a mistake he is.
Help out your local tea parties. Help out your local candidate, if you agree with him. Hell, call and write your state rep, urge him to block the health care reform. Make your voice heard - politely.

Go figure. How many more are to follow? No problem. Some bureaucrat no one ever voted for will issue a correcting 'rule'.

We have been well and truely fucked over, and his cheering supporters haven't realized how badly they've been screwed - the bill hasn't reached their table yet. Mr. Lawson, I raised a similar objection last night on another thread and got whacked for it, which kinda puzzled me all day. I've come to realize that people are REALLY pissed at the sheer arrogance of what Congress pulled off this weekend.

A guy I work with who was voting for Obama and disagreeing with my thinking on him (that we didn't know enough, and what little we DID know (Annenburg Challenge, Grove Parc) wasn't good - and he didn't have the experience needed) said a few months back "You were right." I haven't seen him lately to ask about this - but he's actually pretty conservative and I don't think the whole HCR thing was setting well with him at all.
