How's that working for ya Mr. Obama?
An influential multi-party group of British parliamentarians on Sunday called for British leaders not to speak of a "special relationship" with the U.S. because the transatlantic relationship, while still strong, is cooling.
The House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee on Sunday released a report saying its side should adopt "a more hard-headed political approach towards our relationship with the U.S. with a realistic sense of our own limits and our national interests," according to the chair of the committee, Mike Gapes.
"The use of the phrase 'the special relationship' in its historical sense, to describe the totality of the ever-evolving U.K.-U.S. relationship, is potentially misleading, and we recommend that its use should be avoided," he said of the term coined by Winston Churchill.
Former Prime Minister Tony Blair was accused during his tenure of being a "poodle" for having Britain join the U.S. in its campaign against Iraq. But the committee found areas beyond Iraq to argue that there needs to be greater distance as it alluded to a chillier tone toward the U.K. from President Barack Obama.
"The U.K. foreign policy approach this Committee is advocating is in many ways similar to the more pragmatic tone which President Obama has adopted towards the U.K.," Gapes said.
"He is an American who grew up in Hawaii, whose foreign experience was of Indonesia and who had a Kenyan father. The sentimental reflexes, if you like, are not there," added David Manning, the former British ambassador to the U.S., in testimony used in writing the report.
...
Testimony from the report also shows a perception that the Obama administration isn't interested in promoting democracy abroad.
"If one thinks of what [Republican candidate] John McCain had to say about the league of democracies and so forth, I think that perhaps there would have been a stronger interest in a McCain Administration in reaching out particularly to like-minded democracies around the globe. That is something that the Obama Administration do not seem too concerned about," said Nick Witney, senior policy fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations.
The Obama administration isn't interested in promoting democracy abroad... or at home.
In fact, given this article and what's taking place now between the United States and Israel, it wouldn't take much to convince anyone that the Obama administration is interested more in destroying democracy at home and abroad.
Have ya got enough hope and change yet?

"The Obama administration isn't interested in promoting democracy abroad... or at home."
Well, Yeah. That's because Obama doesn't believe in democracy to begin with. Democracy is too restrictive upon the government and doesn't allow the government freedom to do whatever it wants to the people.
We should realize by now that Obama's idea of a "Smarter, more intelligent" foreign policy is to shed the US of its traditional allies, who are all stuck in the disgusting trappings of democracy, and to repair relations with world leaders who have the kind of power that Obama respects. Hence Obama has been sucking up to Chavez, Ortega, Iran, Syria, the various Palestinian terror groups, China, etc.
Unfortunately, Obama in his 12th grade understanding of the world does not realize that these thug regimes do not respect his bowing and scraping and they see it as a weakness to take advantage of.
So we have insulted every major ally that we have had for the last 50+ years to the point that they are now publicly abandoning us and we have gained nothing.

They told me that if Obama were elected here would be a new era of bipartisanship in Washington...And they were right!
First we saw a significant bipartisan opposition to his healthcare scam. Today we see 327 House member including Steny Hoyer send a signed letter to Obama expressing dismay at his destruction of our relationship with Israel and urging him to change course.
While Obama apologists defend him and characterize his snub as a gaffe, it is clear from his associating with advisers like Samantha Power that he wants to destroy the relationship with Israel.
Once again Obama thinks that by weakening our ally he will bring peace. Yes, world history is full of example how weak nations gain great respect.

If you look carefully at the article, you'll notice that there are only two short quotes from the report itself. The others are from the chairman of the committee, from "testimony used to write the report," or from some guy from a thinktank called the Eoropean Council on Foreign relations.

Steve, it's not about "Christianista Nation-building" it's about democracy. Something you and Obama do not believe in. Perhaps you are OK with millions of people being enslaved by their government, but then again, dems have always been cool with slavery.
Bruce, I think that we are seeing that multiple sources are saying hat Obama has pretty much killed our relationship with our closest ally. If you are trying to imply that the article is wrong about the report I'd very much like to see the evidence.

Bruce,
I believe that Obama has indeed killed off our relationship with Britain. It will take close to a generation to repair the damage he has done.
He has snubbed ALL our major allies (I won't bother listing them again here). Most of them more than once.
He has acted directly against the national interests of Britain, Israel, Poland and the Czech Republic and has threatened their national security.
It won't be easy damage to repair. And those few allies that Obama hasn't threatened their national security (yet) are looking at these events and wondering how long it is before they have their turn under the bus.

In the veterinary sense of the word. What do you do with a unruly dog you don't want to kill? You 'fix' him.
Obama's doing his damndest to 'fix' the country. He's 'fixed' the banking system, 'fixed' the automotive industry, 'fixed' health care - and he wants to 'fix' the schools and 'fix' the economy.
He's 'fixed' relations with our allies, and is working at 'fixing' our relationships with our enemies.
There's not much more 'fixing' we can take, I think...

Also, Willie, please re-read this thread and tell me where I stated ANYTHING about "damage done to our allies by Obama's actions." So kindly don't lecture me about intellectual dishonesty regarding words you imagine I wrote.
And, Jim, you might wanna Wiki up some info about which President, from which party, inserted the US into the Somalia quagmire. An insertion, I might add, that was performed AFTER he lost the election and before Clinton took office.
You generally moderate your tone when challenged, Jim, but in this thread you really doubled down on the drama. Reminds me of my 14 year old, shouting how I'll "ruin her life" if I don't buy her those new $80 jeans.
