Feminists are largely disconnected from reality.
Here's more proof:
About two dozen women marched topless from Longfellow Square to Tommy's Park this afternoon in an effort to erase what they see as a double standard on male and female nudity.
The women, preceded and followed by several hundred boisterous and mostly male onlookers, many of them carrying cameras, stayed on the sidewalk because they hadn't obtained a demonstration permit to walk in the street. About a thousand people gathered as the march passed through Monument Square, a mix of demonstrators, supporters, onlookers and those just out enjoying a warm and sunny early-spring day.
After the marchers reached Tommy's Park in the Old Port, some turned around and walked back to Longfellow Square, but most stayed and mingled in the park. Some happily posed for pictures.
Police said there were no incidents and no arrests - nudity is illegal in Maine only if genitals are displayed.
Ty McDowell, who organized the march, said she was "enraged" by the turnout of men attracted to the demonstration. The purpose, she said, was for society to have the same reaction to a woman walking around topless as it does to men without shirts on.
Ms. McDowell is an idiot.

So she's going to restrict it to women over 300 pounds? Perhaps she could restrict it to women with disfiguring injuries.
What an imbecile. She's a perfect example of the idiot leftist who cannot understand how anyone else thinks and gets irrational when confronted with the fact that people think differently than she does.

Let me see if I've got this: She holds an event with topless women to protest the fact that society treats topless women different than topless men. Then she gets upset when society reacts in the very way that she is complaining about.
What? Is she so dense that she thinks that just because she organizes a protest that instantaneously society will change what are centuries of social norms? Are libs really that stupid to think that one sentence of their enlightened reason can change all of society and societies rules for normal behavior?
I guess that explains Obama. Thank God we don't have to see the Wookie going topless at state dinners.

I don't understand why it is that liberal women feel so inferior to men. Everything has to be the same and fair. One feels and thinks that way when they feel inferior to another.
Conservative women know that there are differences between every person, and between men and woman. In areas that matter conservative women know that they can do anything a man does if they so desire. This kind of a protest does nothing because it means nothing. It simply points out the liberal feminist's hatred and animosity of men and anyone she is envious of, feels inferior to and/or feels a need to prove herself to.

Stupid women, don't they realize that they just can't act like regular people and do whatever they want to be comfortable and all? Women's bodies are for men to look at and imagine having sex with, unless you're fat and/or ugly, in which case, keep it covered, damn. Either way, your body is public property, so if you can't do us the courtesy of maximizing your hotness, at least have the decency not to appear in public in any way that might harsh a guy's boner.

McDowelle has the method right but she's damned impatient. Females with bear brests do suffer a double standard of sorts that's nothing more than a social construct. Women's breasts are more intriguing and sexy partly because they're so vigorously kept hidden. Naturally if they're suddenly put on display, they'll be ogled.
She's on the right track and more women need to be encouraged to go topless as often as men do if feminists do want to have that freedom in popular society but it's not going to happen immediately.
It's up to women though and it's silly to fault men for women en masse not accepting this notion of going topless in public places. If women had embraced topless dress in Toronto years ago, it wouldn't be a bog deal today. The same goes for anywhere female topless dress is legal.

I don't get it. It's legal for them to go topless, so they aren't being discriminated against, so what are they protesting?
If they don't want their breasts to be looked at, they should keep them covered. Just like men who don't want their bare chests to be looked at keep their shirts on.
If a non-protesting woman who wasn't part of a naked-boobie march was going about her business topless, and she was surrounded by oggling men catcalling and taking photos, then she'd have grounds for complaint about harassment. Once you start using your body to make a point, and deliberately draw attention to yourself, then you have to accept that people will react in kind.
