Well, he did campaign on a unity theme

He simply didn't tell us how he'd unite us:

Two weeks after President Barack Obama signed the big health care overhaul into law, Americans are struggling to understand how -- and when -- the sweeping measure will affect them.

Questions reflecting confusion have flooded insurance companies, doctors' offices, human resources departments and business groups.

"They're saying, 'Where do we get the free Obama care, and how do I sign up for that?' " said Carrie McLean, a licensed agent for eHealthInsurance.com. The California-based company sells coverage from 185 health insurance carriers in 50 states.

McLean said the call center had been inundated by uninsured consumers who were hoping that the overhaul would translate into instant, affordable coverage. That widespread misconception may have originated in part from distorted rhetoric about the legislation bubbling up from the hyper-partisan debate about it in Washington and some media outlets, such as when opponents denounced it as socialism.

"We tell them it's not free, that there are going to be things in place that help people who are low-income, but that ultimately most of that is not going to be taking place until 2014," McLean said.

Adults with pre-existing conditions are frustrated to learn that insurers won't have to cover them until 2014 (though those under 18 will be protected in late September); then they become both hopeful and confused upon learning that a federal high-risk pool for them will be established in the next few months. "Health insurance is so confusing. You add this on top of it and it makes it even more confusing," McLean said.

The piece goes on to cite how Obama plans a year long education campaign to combat all the confusion.

Hmm... so... we'll have this government mandated healthcare and we'll need to attend the equivalent of an education camp to understand how it's going to help us.

Where can I sign up?

Adrian, I would be willing to wager that Obama will learn more about his health care legislation from the public than they will learn from him. He can talk all he wants but frankly, I don't think he will be able to present a coherent presentation of it no matter how much he goes on about it. Let's face it, when it comes to presenting details Obama is pretty inscrutable.

Most disconcerting in the article is how uneducated people seem to be about their own existing health care insurance, and how uneduacted small business seems to be about how it will affect their bottom line. (Um, hello, wake the hell up. This is your life, your business, take some responsibility for yourself and it.)

I don't think an education campaign is such a bad thing in light of how complex taxes (ahem, fines) and insurance can be. But why the fuck things like that weren't clearly explained BEFORE this massive entitlement was passed is something only Obama and his bobbing-head minions know.

Why should we be shocked that the morons who voted for Obama expected that Obamacare would mean immediate free healthcare? These are the same buffoons that expected that he would pay their mortgages and car payments too.

I hope they are getting the rude awakening that they richly deserve. Of course like all of Obama's lies and empty promises it falls to someone else to explain why it is that what the rubes thought they were getting will never be. Obama will never explain his con to those he duped. He will avoid it and filibuster.

Of course, in this case he doesn't really have to explain himself to that many people. The majority of Americans knew it was a load of crap.
