File this under turnabout is fair play:
An Arizona utility commissioner said he's willing to pull the plug on Los Angeles if the city goes through with a boycott of his state.
In a letter to the city of LA, a member of Arizona's power commission said he would ask Arizona utility companies to cut off the power supply to Los Angeles. LA gets about 25 percent of its power from Arizona.
"That is one commissioner who has that idea -- whether he can do that or not is another idea," said LA Councilman Dennis Zine. "They are the ones who have to make the move, not us."
The commissioner's power grid play is in response to the city's approval of a resolution directing city staff to consider which contracts with Arizona can be terminated.
Pull it... and move on.
Ought to shut the boycotters the hell up.

Unfortunately the outrageous lies told by the president the rest of his regime (including the "MSM") have fueled this controversy-- the exact opposite of what the federal government is supposed to do.

I would really love to have a look at that contract. Normally, a government contract is protected out the yahoo - I guarantee AZ is looking to see what is connected to that power line. If the power goes to hospitals, police stations, and so on, they pretty much to leave the power on. If it's 'general use', however, well that's a whole different situation. And yes, it would take someone pretty stupid to sign a contract that would allow the supplier to cancel it quicky, let's not forget Governor Grey Davis - Enron (yes that Enron) offered a contract in 2000 to LA and various major population areas for emergency power (seems Cali was sucking way more power than it had provided for in the original contracts) which basically said 'you will pay whatever we demand' and Gov. Davis signed it pretty much without reading it. Would not shock me at all if the present contract had some surprises in it.
Worse for Cali, AZ can sell its extra power pretty easily. It's located in a grid which allows it to sell to other states, the Feds, and more than a few corporate bidders.
Also, having worked with contracts I also wonder if this one has clauses in it about 'good faith' - a boycott against the state of Arizona would contitute breach of contract if such a clause was in there - AZ could possibly not only shut off the lights, but send a final bill with a termination penalty.
Wa-ha.

Breaking news in Orange County:
ORANGE - A 17-year-old deported felon has barricaded himself inside Tacos Garcia near Glassell Street and Collins Avenue, police said. The teen's mother, who was also inside the taqueria, has been detained, said Orange police Sgt. Dan Adams.
The situation began at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday when Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers went to the taqueria at 918 North Glassell St. looking for a deported felon who had sneaked back in the country, Adams said.
The detention and removal officers were conducting routine enforcement activities and were working on a lead that the teen, who had been previously deported, was at the business, said ICE spokeswoman Lori Haley.
The teen threw a blender or a meat grinder at one of the officers and then ran to a restroom inside the business and barricaded himself, Adams said, adding that the officer was not injured. Haley declined to comment about the teen's immigration status citing ICE's privacy guidelines, but did say his criminal record stemmed from weapon-related charges.
Negotiators are trying to get the teen to surrender. They have been talking on the phone with someone inside the business, possibly a relative, Adams said. "We'll be here until he comes out," Adams said. The teen has not yet been publicly identified. Once he is detained, he will be facing assault with a deadly weapon charges for attacking the ICE, Adams said.

Lee, you really are that simple. Here, just for you is the full text of the letter sent;
You may notice that he doesn't threaten to "pull the plug," but more as a neighborly gesture, wants to help Major Viva La Raza meet his goal of boycotting Arizona.
Of course, if the Mayor of LA actually had any balls, he would follow through.
But you, like him, are typical of that ilk, never bother to read the law, or the letter, just knee jerk react and resort to calling everyone a racist.
It's called the law Lee, read it, know it, live it. If you don't like it, move to Mexico, or some other garden spot on the globe. Oh, wait, they have immigration laws and enforce them, DAMN!

Besides, Lee's actually a bot. Completely programmed, can't be argued with, will do a 180 opinion skid turn when the politics dictates. As someone, I think, posted earlier, this is a good issue to talk with students and or your children about; one of the TRUE things the Fed. government is responsible for. Very teachable moment showing how this, if it could be carried out, is exactly what the commerce clause is for, you can then show how the Fed's have overstepped their bounds and do many, many things that aren't in their jurisdiction according to the Constitution.
I have to admit AZ is teaching us alot. If more states and citizens begin to wake up and show the cajones that this state and it's ppl are, perhaps the looming Facist, nanny staters can be denied.
