... when he escorted the Dalai Lama out the back door of the White House some months ago:
Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama said Thursday that he is a Marxist, yet credits capitalism for bringing new freedoms to the communist country that exiled him -- China.
"Still I am a Marxist," the exiled Tibetan Buddhist leader said in New York, where he arrived with an entourage of robed monks and a heavy security detail to give a series of paid public lectures.
Marxism has "moral ethics, whereas capitalism is only how to make profits," the Dalai Lama, 74, said.
However, he credited China's embrace of market economics for breaking communism's grip over the world's most populous country and forcing the ruling Communist Party to "represent all sorts of classes."
Capitalism "brought a lot of positive to China. Millions of people's living standards improved," he said.
And they say the Dalai Lama is a wise man.

UPDATE: The President has responded... to me:
Rick,
Yes, I was aware of my fellow marxists beliefs when we visited in my house. However, I escorted him out the back door as he had not yet come out of the closet. In fact, one of the main items we discussed was him going public with his support of marxism, and all the good it can do in the world.
Capitalism has lead to untold horrors in the past century. Thankfully, we see that there is a better way, a fairer way, where peace and equality can prevail.
As I lead America, and the world, away from the evils of capitalism and toward a fairer world where social justice prevails, I look forward to working with my good friends to improve the plight of the poor and downtrodden in the world. Thanks to the Dalai Lama and some of my other good friends like Hugo Chaves, Kim Jong Il and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, we stand on the threshhold of a brighter future for all humanity.
Hope and Change!
Barack Hussein Obama
President of the United States

Capitalism "brought a lot of positive to China. Millions of people's living standards improved," he said.
So does he want the country to revert to Marxism?
"Asked why tickets to his lectures are selling for as much as hundreds dollars, the Dalai Lama said none of the money went to him personally. "You should ask the organizer. I have no connection." He said he was "always asking the organizer: tickets must be cheap. Some of the money goes to charities, such as hunger relief, he said. "Unfortunately," he added, bursting into his trademark laughter, sometimes the "organizations are a little richer."
Heh heh....yeah, funny how that works.

When an avowed Marxist is more bullish about capitalism than the President of the United States you've got serious problems afoot.

The Dalai Lama would like to live in a utopian world filled with utopian people. Marxism vs capitalism shows that capitalism is closer in results (which count here on earth) to the utopia he desires.
