NASA Administrator Bolden thrown under the bus

Robert Gibbs says Bolden "misspoke" as to Muslim outreach:

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Monday that NASA Administrator Charles Bolden must have misspoken when he told Al Jazeera last month that one of his top priorities is to reach out to Muslim countries.

"That was not his task and that's not the task of NASA," Gibbs said.

Bolden, though, said last month in the interview that it was President Obama who gave him that task. He made a similar claim in February.

The White House also backed up Bolden last week when his remarks first stirred controversy. A White House spokesman last Tuesday said Obama wants NASA to engage with the world's best scientists and that to meet that challenge, NASA must "partner with countries around the world like Russia and Japan, as well as collaboration with Israel and with many Muslim-majority countries."

NASA last week walked back Bolden's claim that Muslim outreach was the "perhaps foremost" plank of his mission, saying that Bolden was merely talking about his "outreach" responsibilities and that space exploration is still NASA's No. 1 job.

But Gibbs on Monday appeared to deny that Bolden was asked to focus on Muslim outreach at all.

Asked whether Bolden misspoke, Gibbs said: "I think so."

He said he wasn't aware of Obama speaking to Bolden about his comments.

Would Gibbs lie?

Oh... never mind.

Misspoke here means he should not have told the truth. Whoops!

Yeah, we're not about making muslims feel good, we are all about making space craft. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Its not an outreach. Its an exchange of technology so the muslims can be sure their ICBM's can reach the Big Satan as well as the little.

Is it just me, or do a lot of Obama appointees and nominees seem to have problems, either with competence or keeping on the good side of Obama and his secret agendas? He's picked a lot of political hacks and cronies to fill slots normally reserved for professionals.

Either Bolden was telling the truth, but a truth that Obama did not want known publicly, or he misunderstood what Obama was telling him, and therefore his competence must be called into question.

I'm thinking that this former Marine general has some competence, he just doesn't believe in the secrecy that the Obama regime operates under.

Sorry Gibby, Obama (and you as his proxy) is our Liar in Chief. I don't believe most Americans are going to buy that General Bolden can "out lie" Obama!

Have you ever walked up on some teenagers acting, well, like teens, and they almost fall over themselves trying to hide the beer/cigarettes/evidence? Later, when they realize they tipped their hand they try to switch to nonchalant cool guys.

Yeah I've seen that.

As for 'translating' Barry's wishes into reality. That's hard to do with a guy who straddles both sides of every issue. I think most of their time is spent just getting Barry to commit to ONE course of action. You know, MAKE A DECISION.

I met Bolden briefly a few years ago, when he was at MCAS Miramar. I got the strong impression that he's a stand-up guy; he also seemed to be a committed Christian. I can't imagine him saying what he said about NASA's priorities unless Our Glorious Leader had actually laid down that line to him.

Read his Wikipedia writeup. Bolden is not a weasel, not an idiot, and not a coward.

We are not killing "terrorists" or "Islamists" in Waziristan; instead our "overseas contingency operations" are aimed at reminding Muslims that their own past contributions to science have led to breakthroughs like Hellfire missiles.
