Barney Frank said he was supposed to get a $1 senior discount for a ferry ride to Fire Island and when he didn't get it, he threw a fit:
Frank was turned down by ticket clerks at the dock in Sayville because he didn't have the required Suffolk County Senior Citizens ID. A witness reports, "Frank made such a drama over the senior rate that I contemplated offering him the dollar to cool down the situation."
It's unseemly that Congressman Frank would become irate at the idea of not receiving a $1 senior discount on anything when he has no problem reaching his chubby little hands into as many taxpayers' pockets as possible so he can fund his leftist agenda.
Remember when he said this right before the 2008 presidential election?
This entitlement mentality is pervasive among America's political class. It is bad enough that Massachusetts Senator John Kerry was just busted for purchasing and docking his 72 foot yacht in Rhode Island to avoid paying taxes, but that Congressman Frank protested when he was denied a $1 senior discount even though it was meant for those senior citizens who live on a limited income is almost more insulting.
If Congressman Frank is a true believer in taxing the rich because they can afford it, then he can forgo the $1 discount because he can afford it.

Somehow the title of the previous post seems fitting when run under this post:
"We call upon all our sisters who are virgins..."
but you have to think long and hard about it...

Isn't Massachusetts the state that *offers* to let taxpayers pay MORE than their fair share? How is it their elected officials are always weaseling out of paying anything at all?
As for the ticket clerk...good on you! But expect an audit...

Just ask John Kerry.

Of course, it isn't a discount available to all seniors, it is for those who present the official card. No tickee, no laundry. It's sort of the whole purpose of HAVING the card in the first place - mmmkay, Barn?

Once again, I'd like to apologize to the rest of the country for a politician from Ma., Barney Frank this time.
Why the voters of Ma elect this arrogant SOB is beyond me.
If he'd make this much of a stink over a lousy one dollar senior discount, then I'm positive he's as lousy a tipper as Kerry is known to be.

By his insisting that he qualified for a "resident" discount, was he admitting that he was not a Massachusetts resident and therefore not eligible to represent Mass in Congress? Was he announcing his retirement? I sure hope that is the case.

You miss the point Jeff. Barney Frank IS A JOKE!
Mr "Let's roll the dice one more time" has done a lot of damage to this country's economy. He's a preening peacock with the taxpayers money, yet demands discounts he's not entitled to.

I'm not a fan of Frank's nor am I of the overwhelming majority of politicians from either side of the aisle. I just enjoy the homophobia from posters here. Instead of making a comment about Frank's actions or adding to the discussion the homophobes hurl sexual slurs.
Throwing the f bomb in there really makes your case though.

"...but that Congressman Frank protested when he was denied a $1 senior discount even though it was meant for those senior citizens who live on a limited income is almost more insulting..." Well, hey, wait a minute; I don't recall a means test for senior discounts, and I thought the idea that anyone who could afford it should pay more was part of - wait for it - a leftist agenda.
