Haaretz is reporting that the answer is yes:
After weeks of heated debate over plans for an Islamic community center near Ground Zero - the site of the 9/11 attacks on New York - it seems Muslim leaders will soon back down, agreeing to move to a new site.
The decision follows a high-profile campaign against the project that included advertisements on New York buses showing images of the burning Twin Towers, an iconic landmark razed when al-Qaida terrorists flew packed passenger planes into them in 2001. The New York Republican party is also said to be planning a hostile television campaign.
Sources in New York said on Monday that Muslim religious and business leaders will announce plans to abandon the project in the next few days.
...
But several people familiar with the debate among New York's Islamic activists now claim that the leaders are convinced abandoning the site is preferable to unleashing a wave of bitterness towards Muslims.
They also hope the move will be seen as a show of sensitivity to families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks, and to the American public generally.
Another factor in the apparent climbdown is a lack of funds to pay for construction of the center, estimated to cost a hundred million dollars. Backers hope moving it will lead to a wave of support, accompanied by cash donations.
H/T Big Peace.

Well, supposedly a person representing the group that is planning the mosque reported on Twitter that the report is not accurate. I seriously doubt there will be climb down from this group after they have gotten this far anyways. This is all about location for them. A mosque/community center miles away from Ground Zero simply won't have the same value to them. And the money that is funding this insult to America will probably dry up as well. Why spend all that money unless you can poke the infidel in the eye right? This has far less to do about serving Muslims living in Lower Manhattan than it does about pure symbolism. It will probably be second on the list of places for Muslims to visit right after the Grand Mosque in Mecca...
The fact that they have been willing to put up with the controversy speaks volumes about how badly they want this thing to be build on that spot. They talk about reaching out, having a dialogue and building bridges but there has been none of that. The opposition has been labeled as intolerant bigots and all calls to open their books as to where all the money is coming from have been ignored. If everything was on the level, you know they would be willing to prove the racist doubters wrong. The fact of the matter is that it is a certainty that shady terrorist backers are providing the money and that inconvenient reality cannot be disclosed until this thing gets built and they know it.

Donations drying up in the face of widespread protest is listed and sounds credible to me.
The last two (short) paragraphs on how Obama's climbing down from his Friday statement of support could also have had an effect sounds more to me of another offer of rapprochement from Israel to the White House rather than of reality.

Ground Zero mega-mosque leaders' anti-Semitic tweet
Haaretz published an erroneous story saying that the leaders of the Islamic supremacist mega-mosque at Ground Zero were going to move the mosque elsewhere. In response, the Park51 group, that is, the mosque leadership, published the anti-Semitic tweet at the bottom of this series (thanks to Pamela Geller):
Park51: Correction, we will be publishing an official twitter response to the Haaretz story and the Hamas comments.
Park51: Official: Reports by Haaretz are completely false. We are committed to plans of building Park 51 to serve the community of Lower Manhattan.
Park51: We are also deeply thankful to the President of the United States and the Mayor of New York City for their support.
Park51: Official: Hamas does not and will not speak for Park51. Our mission is one of peace, understanding, tolerance and faith.
Park51: On a side note, if Haaretz likes publishing fables, perhaps they could go back to the Yiddish ones with parables #welikethosebetter
Pamela has the screenshot of the tweet here. Also she has a revealing look at some of the people Park51 follows on Twitter. Take a look.

I don't believe it for a minute. At most, they might announce some delay or reconsideration just to take it off the front burner until after the election. They have pretty much everything they need to build it in terms of approval from the City, all that remains is to buy out Con-Ed's half interest in the building, which the utility will not refuse to sell to anyone at their set price.
If donations are drying up, putting off the realization of the project until after the election could make sense, and perhaps even save a Democratic seat or two, and the muslims always prefer a weak and submissive foe.
