While the country reels economically...

... Obama decides to remodel The White House according to Drudge:

I'll post the link as soon as it's up.

Amazing how he continues to manifest how completely out of touch with Americans he truly is.  And this yesterday will add to it:

He seemed intent on casting himself as above the political fray, saying he had more important work to do than to engage in the back and forth of the political "silly season."

For example, Obama said he did not watch any of Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally Saturday on the National Mall.

"It's not surprising that somebody like a Mr. Beck is able to stir up a certain portion of the country. That's been true throughout our history," he said. But "what I'm focused on is making sure that the decisions we're making now are going to be be not good for the nightly news, not good even necessarily  for the next election, but are good for the next generation."

By some estimates, half a million people were in DC yesterday.  Half a million.  And the President of the United States chalks it up to "somebody like a Mr. Beck" stirring people up.

Amazing.

He seems to in reality be not the President of all of us... but the President of some of us.

2012 will not get here soon enough.

Yeah, but for the next generation in which country?

Can Obama really be so dense that he doesn't get how much damage the massive amount of debt we already have and that he's racking up like a compulsive shopper is going to cause future generations? Does he somehow think that saddling the next generation with likely another $16 trillion will somehow IMPROVE their lot? ($16 tril figured using this years' $1.6 tril to date deficit and extending it for the next decade...)

"I spent all your money, you'll have to get by without it, and you're going to thank me for it because otherwise you would have grown up soft and pampered in a civilization that had 24/7 electricity and running water and flush toilets. But that was too wasteful, so I had to force a crisis to bankrupt the economy to save the planet. Now we've returned to a sustainable agrarian economy that doesn't threaten to burn up the world through global warming. Now, peon, if you'd throw a few more logs on the fire, it gets chilly here in Florida in the summer any more..."

The poor sap REALLY doesn't have a clue.

Estimated 500,000 at the rally and probably another half million or so that watched it online.
I watched both rallies and I gotta say I was inspired and uplifted by the Beck rally and saddened by the Sharpton rally.

JLawson:

King's dream was of a color-blind society. Where you're judged by your character and behavior instead of your skin and your heritage.

Sharpton's dream is of a world where skin and heritage take priority over everything else.

King was a visionary who wanted the best for this country. Sharpton's a race-baiting poverty pimp who's looking out for himself.

JLawson:

I've seen reports of 3,000 - but considering how it hasn't been touted as a raging success, I'm thinking that may have been the maximum the organizers thought they could reasonably claim.

It's going to be a very interesting November.

"Obama decides to remodel The White House"

Why not. His administration has been ALL about appearances from Day One. But then he never was a politician of substance.

In today's WaPo EJ Dione suggests that the problem is that obama is not being liberal enough. As I have always said for the left, when their policies fail it isn't because they are wrong, it's because they aren't sufficiently leftist.

Clever and once again, unaccountable.
Using this logic, how will anyone know if the "decisions" are the right ones.

This is as bad as the jobs saved crap they peddle all the time, or the "it would be worse" canard they also like to use.

It is exactly this type of response from Obama that supports my belief that he is in permanent campaign mode. Also, that he is petty and intemperate in his words. He's an elitist and holds much of America in disdain and comtempt.

The people, including Democrats, should expect much more civil and mature behavior from a president.

Bush NEVER denigrated his opponents nor did he denigrate any Americans, because he believed that a President should be held to a higher standard.

Obama is what I'd call a "lower" standard... much lower.
