On Tuesday September 7, 2010 at around 11:00am one Palm Beach State College (PBSC) student and two Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) members, state chairman Daniel P. Diaz and state vice chairman Eddie Shaffer, were shut down and had campus police called on them after tabling and recruiting during club rush at the College. The PBSC student, Christina Beattie, had received prior permission from college administrator Olivia Ford-Morris to promote her organization on campus via telephone and email communication.
On the day of club rush, officials approached the group and after seeing information about the organization and its ideals criticizing Barack Obama's economic policy. Ms. Ford-Morris was visibly disturbed by the material presented, published by the Heritage Foundation, criticizing President Obama's administration. College officials then called the campus police to assure the group left campus. Ms. Ford-Morris denied having ever talked to Ms. Beattie about giving permission to the organization to be a part of PBSC club rush.
"I was shocked and offended by her dishonesty. She outright denied giving me permission to table at Club Rush simply because she disagreed with my beliefs! The fact is, she was using her administrative power to silence the conservative opposition." said Christina Beattie.
The piece goes on to chronicle other clubs that failed to get "prior permission" as required by college administration staff but who were allowed to recruit on campus during the event.
Welcome to Obamaland.
Got yer fill of hope and change yet?
H/T to Jim Hoft who has video of the group being asked to shut down and leave the premises.

The religion of peace....
If crazy fundamentalist Christians were killing people to protect Christianity, it would be the leaders of the Christian church that would demand it stop. They would be meeting, praying, calling from the pulpit for it to stop. And the governments, police, judges, etc., would jail, bring to trial, and hold accountable the people who did the violence, and the people who called for the violence.
But in Islam, the US government can use taxpayer dollars to pay for some Iman to travel all over the world getting support for his Mosque in a place Americans overwhelming say is insensitive (rude and crued, not illegal) and this same Iman can threaten us with how the headlines will appear in the Muslim world and how outraged and violent they will become if we don't do as he says.
Have we lost already? In Europe, especially in the UK, Sharia law has become a tumor which pushes aside the laws of the country. Piggy banks are outlawed as ways to get children to save their change. And there are places where non-Muslims are not premitted to purchase homes.
In Islam, it is the Imans and the leaders who provoke those whose minds have been seeped in outrage. They stir the pot and the world looks on and trembles. The media rush to make some hick preacher an international decider of whether screaming religious nuts kill, blow up, or do violence halfway around the world.
It isn't "coming to America", it is already here.

You know, the only panic Ms Ford-Morris should experience at reading material from the Heritage Foundation should be due to the overwhelming fear of learning how the world actually operates outside her adult day care center called the Ivory Tower.

California schools have operated this way for quite some time. THEY chose the "causes" that are acceptable, THEY chose the posters that can be put up in class (my son's History teacher had "BusHitler" posters up all over his classroom), and THEY chose what may be said and what must be punished.
You are free to say anything in our schools...as long as it agrees with Left. 1984? Yup.

Funny how the Left preaches tolerance towards Islam which has demonstrated its anti-womens' rights and extreme homophobic practices. Yet they are rabidly intolerant of Christians and accuse them of being homophobic and anti women's rights without any evidence to support it.
They take the side of those who would oppress women and kill gays, yet target Christians and other conservative groups who have shown themselves to be tolerant and willing to discuss their positions.

WTF???
I think buring ANYONE's religious text is a BAD IDEA. But the only reason Breyer is singleing out the Koran for protection is that its adherents are likely to riot and kill people!!
So in order for the Bible to receive special protection from the Leftwing nutjob "Justice" we Christians need to start rioting???

I find it a bit odd that the author did not provide a link to the email. Also, the Young Americans for Freedom is the same group that sponsored a "Catch an Illegal Immigrant Day" contest, held a "Koran Desecration" competition, jokingly threatened to distribute smallpox-infested blankets to Native American students, and posted "Gays Spread AIDS" fliers across campus. Makes me wonder they did to get thrown out of club rush.

Tina S,
To the best of my understanding those events you attribute to being organized by YAF were in fact organized only on the MSU campus by a YAF group infiltrated by white supremacists. This is not typical I believe of YAF groups across the country. I have read where the majority of conservative students on the MSU campus have disavowed this YAF group. I do not believe your example of a fringe group is reflective of the YAF as a whole. If you find this logic rational then Muslim terrorists are reflective of the ideology of Islam as a whole. Maybe you feel that way as well? Again, literature from the Heritage Foundation is hardly hate-filled. In fact, politicos of both parties consult Heritage's research when discussing and formulating public policy. Additionally, there is no doubt the President's economic policies are indeed destructive to the United States. You are clueless not to appreciate this.

The above statement is false. In the video Christina specifically states that she only got permission over the phone. The same false statement is also posted on YAF's website.

Here is what I find odd about the story:
1. Were made to believe the brochures that they were handing out was rather tame but they don't show us the brochures or include a shot of their booth in the video.
2. Christina says she sent Olivia an email, Oliva says she does not remember. I could not find the email anywhere on the internet. How come YAF has not made it available?
3. Typically an organization would fill out a form in order to participate in an event like this. Why did they bypass the normal registration process.

DavidD, my point is not that they are a racist organization but are known nationally for attention grabing protests and they sometimes go over the top. It may be that this whole thing was staged and YAF may have wanted to get kicked out as a publicity stunt.
