Islam is a religion of peace.
In Seattle, a cartoonist decided to demonstrate the freedom of expression that is a hallmark of Western civilization and announced an "Everyone Draw Mohammed Day" on Facebook. When -- in an utterly unexpected and unpredictable response -- Muslims around the world called for her death for inciting blasphemy, she took down the announcement, called it off, and apologized profusely for thinking she has the right to draw a picture of Islam's founding prophet pedophilic psychopathic warlord.
Now she's been advised by the FBI that it would be best for all concerned if she left town, changed her name, and basically hid from Adherents Of The Religion Of Peace(tm).
In India, Adherents Of The Religion Of Peace (tm) heard about the proposed burning of a Koran by a nutjob minister in Florida, and they responded in a peaceful, dignified, civilized, respectful fashion: they burned down a Christian church and school.
In Indonesia, a Christian teacher was accused of blaspheming Islam. The peaceful, dignified, civilized respectful response from the Adherents Of The Religion Of Peace(tm): the mob burned down a village hall, a church, and 45 homes.
But back to the case of cartoonist Molly Norris: note that the FBI, aware that there is a credible threat to the life of an American as retaliation for her choosing to exercise her First Amendment rights, isn't trying to protect her or go after those who would do her harm. Rather, they're telling her to go into hiding and shut the hell up.
In other words, the dumb bitch was asking for it.
Nice to know that when radical Adherents Of The Religion Of Peace(tm) plan to kill Americans for violating the laws of Islam, the official government policy is "don't piss off the crazy dangerous people."

catholicism was for a while, just as bad. Professing to be about peace while crusading into the middle east. The difference is cristians have learned from the past and past mistakes. I doubt anyone here including the trolls honestly believs that the pope could call for another crusade or holy war and actually get much in the way of troops. Christians still habe their nutjobs but by and large we don't subscribe to mob think.
Islam on the otherhand teaches violence as a core part of the religion. Individually most muslims ARE peaceful I'm sure, but they have been trained from birth to mob think and follow orders from their holy people.
islam truly is the religion of peace...as long as you are muslim or ready to convert.

Doesn't it make perfect sense to "not piss off the crazy people?"
Everyone understands that radical Islamists are out of control bat-shit crazy.
My question is - why do bat-shit crazy Christians insist on fanning the hatred of Muslims - extremist or not?
Yes, a handful of them attacked us on 9/11.
Yes, our government has done a less than stellar job of bringing those responsible to trial.
But if some Islamists are going to act like unwashed, unthinking heathens - why are some Christians choosing to act the same way?
You'd think that Christians would choose the higher ground and not stoo to that level.
You'd think...
But then again - some don't think - they just hate - and let that hatred drive their actions.
Limbaugh, Coulter, Malkin, Palin, Gingrich, Guiliani and Beck appreciate that - they like pulling the strings on the Christians who are stupid enough to allow themselves to be manipulated that way.
Just as radical Islamists encourage their extremists factions to rise up in anger - so do the radical Christians - hopping to further a holy war.
Just because they act like tribal heathens doesn't mean we should in kind.
But you wouldn't know that from reading blogs like this.
Many around here are as stupid as the tribal heathens - only you don't have the excuse of a poor education or poverty or decades of indoctrination to explain your ignorance.

I think that is the biggest problem for ppl like Dane, they know, down deep, that the Islamic world hates our culture, our way of life and the freedom we represent, it is totally at odds with the teachings of their Immam's, which is all about the subjegation of the individual will. To have a culture so ingrained with hate towards us must mean WE have done something wrong.
The thing that I just can't understand is that by the very fact he, and others of similar bent, can come on to a site like this, go into the street, create their own sites/org's., etc., and have the freedom to express his ideals, no matter the distaste some may feel for them, shows the tolerance he claims is lacking in so many Americans. I do believe that some people just don't grasp the fact that violent jihadism is not a distortion of Islam, but is actually part and parcel of Islam.
There is no "peaceful only" Islam. The Koran and Hadithas are quite explicit in directing the followers of Islam to fight and kill unbelievers.
And because Islam is not just a religion, but a social and governmental philosophy, too, it allows for the murder of non-Muslims and allows for violence against non-Muslims. In Muslim countries where they go on violent rampages against non-Muslims, the Muslim government invariably looks the other way.
A truly peaceful religion would not tolerate this killing and violence in the name of the religion. But it is tolerated.
Regardless of how many peaceful Muslims may live in the West, it should be obvious to everybody that at some point, civilization will have to choose whether to survive and fight against Islam, or submit to it.

#22 they can't all be terrorists" farmers, doctors, etc ?- the asshole at Ft Hood was a doctor. VC were farmers, shopkeepers etc
#23 Christian fanning the flames of hatred? I'm not a Christian. Lack of education, indoctrination, ignorance? I have 2 college degrees, traveled extensively, - what is ignorant, is pretending a threat from islam doesn't exist.
#34 Having sex with a 9 year old isn't pedophilia? Killing men, women and children personally, and leading others doing the same isn't a warlord? islam a religion of peace? Wow, talk about someone with their head buried up their ass, bet he sees tonsils

Just because our leaders do not call the war on terror a Holy War, that does not mean it is so. How stupid is that logic. Of course they, the terrorists are engaged in a Holy War against us whether we acknowledge that or not. And as I stated presiously, you add up the "few" examples of Islam extremism, it is quite a bit. Islam, at this point in world events, cannot be trusted. They can even lie to further the cause of taking over the world. Liberals, are for the most part, running in fear of muslims as if they will give them a pass. Muslims do not hate republicans and/or Christians, they hate americans. You lefties better wake up. ww

Two things.
One, I'm not an apologist for pedophilia. But, apparently, back in the 7th Century, it wasn't considered shameful for a male "warlord" to consummate a marriage, for dynastic reasons, with a 9 year old. It happened in Europe, China, and the Middle East. We find it shocking today, but if the people of the time had found it so, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be written down.
Secondly, as I remember, the only people filmed "dancing in the streets" after 9/11 were on the West Bank and Gaza strip. There were demonstrations of SUPPORT for the US in the Muslim world, as I recall, including Iran and Syria. Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly. Any of you googlemaniacs wanna post a link showing "Muslims worldwide" celebrating the 9/11 attacks?

@43, regarding your comment on #22, perhaps you did not understand. We're on the same page with this. I was just pulling the rug out from under the argument that "they're not all terrorists", in the manner of saying, "of course not, most of them have to be other things, or they would all starve to death naked". I don't mean to say that many, most, possibly all of them wouldn't answer the call if it came down to them. Just that the fact they're not all terrorists is a distraction from how dangerous their ideology is to us.
