No? Perhaps you should talk to the President:
"Long before America was even an idea, this land of plenty was home to many peoples. The British and French, the Dutch and Spanish, to Mexicans, to countless Indian tribes. We all shared the same land," President Obama told the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
For those not following... we became Americans in 1776.
Mexicans became Mexicans in 1821.
The question now is... when did Obama begin to say anything that might win him votes?

Oh, come on. The Mexicans were already in the 55th state by 1776.
On a serious note, is he trying to set up amnesty for illegal Mexicans with the logic of, you know, Mexicans were here, then left, so we should let them back in as if they never left? What is he trying to say with this inane, on many levels, statement?

I'm surprised Barry doesn't also repeat the stupid mantra "We didn't cross the border, the border crossed us!"
Which would only make sense if you were 157 years old, seeing as the Gadsden Purchase, establishing the southern US border with Mexico occurred June 24, 1853.

And there wasn't very much "sharing" going on between Americans and Mexicans after America became an idea and Mexicans became Mexicans.
Perhaps Obama didn't get much schooling on things like the Texas Revolution and the Mexican-American War. As grade school children in America, we learned about the Alamo. As a grade school student in Jakarta, Obama was learning the Muslim call to prayer.

--Numerous bloody encounters between colonists and "countless Indian tribes."

Where have you been Rick? Mexico as a Republic to much fanfare, is celebrating its bicentenial this year. But the identifiable name Mexico for Mexicans is older as Obama alluded to, older than America for Americans of the colonies of `North America, not New France or Upper and Lower Canada. From Wikipedia:
Whatever its meanings, the name America filled a need. By the middle of the 16th century it had caught on, and mapmakers were using it to define not only South but North America.

If you listen to Obama`s actual words to his Hispanic audience, which would take 10 seconds, that is probably beyond your capabilities, so great is your hate and bigotry but Obama doesn't say "Mexicans" he says "mexican"; there is a distinction, one is an adjective as opposed to a nationality? Do conservatives ever do the slightest empirical research? any? or is that what makes them conservative ?
How else would one describe that part of the world from the 16th century to the September 16th 1810, before they became Mexicans.
Obama`s lumping so many peoples in the New World is a little clumsy, but the audience here seems to take pride in the malapropisms of Bush and Palin, while at the same time censuring Obama for something he did't say.

Obama obviously is a little tired? And how many times can you say Hispanic community/ latinos? latinas. The edited part of his speech which he was talking about peoples becoming one people to accomodate all are people is part his signature larger theme of the American dream.
"There is no us and them, There is only one America. There is no black america, there is no latino america, there is only the United Sates of America.."
The Hispanics are far away are biggest emerging ethnic group, but I can`t see the GOP appealing to them when most of you mock them. The GOP will have to appeal to their base of wackos and the crazies for six months to choose a nominee in their winner take all primaries, which skews the results.
I remember the last time all eight or nine of the GOP candidates unamiously were adamant against repealing "don't ask don't tell," which anyone under the age of 25 knows it is completely ludicrous. guess I am still a hateful homo bigot

If you want to assume that Obama is referring to America as meaning the U.S. then to be consistent Mexicans would need to mean citizens of country of Mexico, in which case Obama is wrong. To go your way as using any name reference to Mexico or America. He would be wrong once again since the reference to America exist long before Mexico.
Obama certainly was wrong in trying to make it sound like all those groups "shared" the land peacefully. The Indian tribes themselves fought and killed each other as did the Aztecs, Mayans, etc.
