More Kamikaze Campaigning

Wow. Another day, another example of leftist kamikaze campaigning.

Nevada's Senate race is getting more and more interesting. On the defense, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. In the other two corners, Tea Party darling and Republican nominee Sharron Angle and "Nevada Tea Party" nominee Scott Ashjian.

Angle's cred with the Tea Party movement is pretty solid. Ashjian, on the other hand, became the Nevada Tea Party nominee by being the first to grab the name and register it with the state.

Well, recently Angle and Ashjian met to discuss the race. During the conversation, Angle trash-talked the Republican establishment, asserted her connections with leading conservatives in Congress, and said that Ashjian's continued presence in the race greatly improved the chances that Reid would be re-elected. Ashjian, on the other hand, demanded that Angle press the Tea Party Express to apologize for some of the intemperate things they said about Ashjian's commandeering of the Tea Party name for his own advancement.

How do we know the fine details of this very private meeting?

Because Ashjian secretly recorded it, and gave the recording to a reporter.

Let's see what this tape reveals about Angle's conduct when she thinks she's not in the public eye: she really wants Reid to lose, she doesn't think much of the Republican establishment, she does think quite a bit of some of the more conservative members of Congress and has had some pleasant contacts with them, and doesn't like Ashjian's appropriation of the "Tea Party" name.

Which stands in stark contrast with Angle's publicly stated positions: she really wants Reid to lose, she doesn't think much of the Republican establishment, she does think quite a bit of some of the more conservative members of Congress and has had some pleasant contacts with them, and doesn't like Ashjian's appropriation of the "Tea Party" name.

On the other hand, we now know this about Ashjian: in order to take down his rival, he's willing to surreptitiously record an allegedly private meeting with her, lie substantially both about and within that meeting (he said he'd consider dropping out in exchange for that apology from the Tea Party Express, but later said he never entertained any such notions), and has no problems setting up a "sting" to score political points.

You know, there's a term for that kind of guy. I don't like using it explicitly, but it starts with a "d" and ends with a "ouchebag."

In the end, this will most likely help Angle -- if from the sympathy angle alone. She accepted Ashjian's offer of a meeting on face value, treated with him honestly and honorably, and the dipshit used that in an attempt to destroy her.

It's sad for Ashjian that his name lends itself to some truly honest alliteration. Ashjian the asshat. Ashjian the asshole. Ashjian the asswipe.

And yet another case of a political hit job against a Republican blowing up in the face of the attackers.

To steal a line from He Who Needs No Linkage: faster, please.

Oh. Sorry, wrong leftist smear. It's so hard to keep them all straight. They should issue a program or something.

Seriously, the fact that Assholian raced in to grab the "Tea Party" name says it all. Using the legal system to muddy the waters is a classic Red maneuver. See the bogus ethics charges against Palin for another example. The National Lawyers Guild - a well-known Communist front - never sleeps.

What's even funnier, if it can be, is that it blew up in Reid's face even though he didn't set it off. Positive re-reinforcement of Sharon Angle's positions by an opponent is an unforced error.

We sure are seeing lots of personal attacks this time around, seems maybe one party has a problem with the issues. Doesn't anyone on the liberal side want to talk about the last few glory years of Democrat control of congress and the 2 years we've had with the One. By the way has anyone checked the level of the oceans recently?

Yep, and the ocean level was down.

Of course, it came back up again six hours later, so I guess we need more socialist programs to keep it down permanently.

A couple billion dollar bailout would help too. Send the check to me, and I'll make sure Neptune gets it.

A lot of us in Nevada believe this clown was put up and is supported by Reid. Not usually a conspiracy believer, but there's been nothing, not one thing about his campaign.

It is almost as if he doesn't really exist in any way other than as a name on the ballot with Tea Party as his affiliation.
