I saw this video linked at Hot Air and mentioned it to a (fairly liberal) colleague of mine. He gave me a look that said "no one is that dumb" and then started Google searches. When he watched the video his reaction was one of shock and disbelief.
Yes, it turns out, someone can be that dumb. Rep. Phil Hare (D-IL), was quoted as saying the following.
And we will see a terrible price that we will pay years down the road for letting our children down when they need us the absolute most. I'm not going to be part of that, so every minute that I have here is going to be spent debunking the myth that this country's in debt and we just can't spend.I can't help but link to the video on YouTube.
This is the same Phil Hare that stated that he didn't care about the Constitution when creating laws. The country truly is in the best of hands.

Well, they get elected by choosing to put themselves into the arena.
All of the smartest folks I've ever met were adament that they would never run for public office, for whatever reason.
The bottom line: you can only vote for people who run. I know I know. Ridiculously simple, but there you go.
It's reminiscent of 1996 when so many on the R-side were screaming for Jack Kemp to jump into the Presidential race. Naturally he didn't, then, for whatever reason, said "ok" to the VP nod.
Of course we all remember who our nominee was then: the "exciting" long-time Senator and Washington insider Bob Dole. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Bob Dole is dumb (he's not). Bob Dole is great American and apparently a great guy, but truthfully I almost fell asleep just typing his name.......

He is a union-backed politician who appears to be dumb as a rock when it comes to American values such as Constitutional government or fiscal restraint. Only someone with no brain or soul could spout the claim that our children will thank us for leaving them so far in debt that they will never be able to repay what is owed and that taxes should go for higher and higher government salaries and pensions.
