Deficit Is a Myth, Nothing to See Here, Move Along

I saw this video linked at Hot Air and mentioned it to a (fairly liberal) colleague of mine. He gave me a look that said "no one is that dumb" and then started Google searches. When he watched the video his reaction was one of shock and disbelief.

Yes, it turns out, someone can be that dumb. Rep. Phil Hare (D-IL), was quoted as saying the following.

And we will see a terrible price that we will pay years down the road for letting our children down when they need us the absolute most. I'm not going to be part of that, so every minute that I have here is going to be spent debunking the myth that this country's in debt and we just can't spend.
I can't help but link to the video on YouTube.
This is the same Phil Hare that stated that he didn't care about the Constitution when creating laws. The country truly is in the best of hands.

There really IS no national debt and the Constitution is irrelevant when it comes to writing laws. Yep...the guy is a democrat poster boy alright.

Dane is unavailable as he is busy holding up the island of Guam to ensure it doesn't capsize due to the increasing population.

It's probably a government job he got as a result of "RECOVERY SUMMER" baby!!

mag: "Honestly, how in the world do people like this get elected. Either it is voter fraud or real stupid people. Either way is very discouraging."

Well, they get elected by choosing to put themselves into the arena.

All of the smartest folks I've ever met were adament that they would never run for public office, for whatever reason.

The bottom line: you can only vote for people who run. I know I know. Ridiculously simple, but there you go.

It's reminiscent of 1996 when so many on the R-side were screaming for Jack Kemp to jump into the Presidential race. Naturally he didn't, then, for whatever reason, said "ok" to the VP nod.

Of course we all remember who our nominee was then: the "exciting" long-time Senator and Washington insider Bob Dole. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Bob Dole is dumb (he's not). Bob Dole is great American and apparently a great guy, but truthfully I almost fell asleep just typing his name.......

Nah. Passing that law would exclude many invertebrates and inanimate objects that display more intelligence than Phil Hare and his friends worrying about the risk of landmasses capsizing and throwing their populations into the oceans.

The days when you could hide these idiots are gone now that video upload is so easily available online.

No doubt the dems will be moving to pass laws to restrict access to the internet ASAP.

I'm sure most of you will just shout me down with insults, but I hope those with language skills among you recognize that you're bending what he said. He didn't say it's a myth that "this country's in debt". He said it's a myth that "this country's in debt and we just can't spend." See, there's a full sentence there. The opposite of which would be his point: "this country's in debt but we still can spend".

If Rupert Murdoch said "it's a myth that I own Fox News and I'm using it to prop up Republicans", would you really interpret it as him saying that he doesn't really own Fox News?

Bob:

I was born, raised and work in Phil Hare's district. He is a union-backed politician who appears to be dumb as a rock when it comes to American values such as Constitutional government or fiscal restraint. Only someone with no brain or soul could spout the claim that our children will thank us for leaving them so far in debt that they will never be able to repay what is owed and that taxes should go for higher and higher government salaries and pensions. This guy is the poster boy for major change in Washington.

Therein lies the problem, the stupid bastard believes that he can spend freely because the Fed will just print more money for him when they run out of ours.

The stupid is weapons grade in this one, I hope he is defeated.

A meth addict's in trouble, but as long as he can whore himself out, he can still get more. Doesn't matter what the damage is that's being done, as long as he can get the meth, its all good - right?

Just becuase you CAN do something, john, doesn't mean you SHOULD be doing it.

So does simple disagreement with your premise count as 'shouting you down with insults'?

So john, does that idiotic notion work for you personally, I mean when you're out of money and all your credit cards are max'ed do you think it's wise to spend more money? Your "clarification" doesn't really make it any better, it's still just as stupid. He would have made more sense if he had said we can spend more money but we'll have to tax the living hell out of everyone to do it, at least that would have been the truth.
