Obama engaged in a psychological defense mechanism

Projection is defined thusly:

According to Sigmund Freud, projection is a psychological defense mechanism whereby one "projects" one's own undesirable thoughts, motivations, desires, and feelings onto someone else.

...

Projection can also be established as a means of obtaining or justifying certain actions that would normally be found atrocious or heinous. This often means projecting false accusations, information, etc. onto an individual for the sole purpose of maintaining a self-created illusion.

With that as foundation, let's go to two links brought our way via Matt Drudge.

The first is this Fox News piece:

Two top Republicans lit into President Obama and the Democratic Party Sunday over accusations that the GOP strategists and the Chamber of Commerce were using foreign contributions to influence the election, calling the claim a "baseless lie" and accusing the president of "abuse of power."

Karl Rove, a Fox News contributor, said on "Fox News Sunday" that the president had gone too far.

"Have these people no shame? Does the president of the United States have such little regard for the office that he holds that he goes out there and makes these kind of baseless charges against his political enemies?" Rove said. "This is just beyond the pale. How dare the president do this."

Next, let's go back to a Washington Post piece written during the height of the Presidential campaign:

Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign is allowing donors to use largely untraceable prepaid credit cards that could potentially be used to evade limits on how much an individual is legally allowed to give or to mask a contributor's identity, campaign officials confirmed.

Faced with a huge influx of donations over the Internet, the campaign has also chosen not to use basic security measures to prevent potentially illegal or anonymous contributions from flowing into its accounts, aides acknowledged. Instead, the campaign is scrutinizing its books for improper donations after the money has been deposited.

The Obama organization said its extensive review has ensured that the campaign has refunded any improper contributions, and noted that Federal Election Commission rules do not require front-end screening of donations.

In recent weeks, questionable contributions have created headaches for Obama's accounting team as it has tried to explain why campaign finance filings have included itemized donations from individuals using fake names, such as Es Esh or Doodad Pro. Those revelations prompted conservative bloggers to further test Obama's finance vetting by giving money using the kind of prepaid cards that can be bought at a drugstore and cannot be traced to a donor.

The problem with such cards, campaign finance lawyers said, is that they make it impossible to tell whether foreign nationals, donors who have exceeded the limits, government contractors or others who are barred from giving to a federal campaign are making contributions.

Seems clear to me that Obama has serious Freudian issues and might consider spending less time on the links and more time on a professional's couch.

More likely the man is in serious need of a moral compass.

Either way, somethin's broke.

He has a moral compass. Problem is its poiting to Mecca.

Rick, it's called DESPERATION. Barry's going down and he knows it. The play book isn't working. So he's throwing anything and everything.

But I do think it's funny as hell that he's stupid enough to bring up 'foreign cash'. Next thing you know, he'll be saying that BigPharma has the Republicans in their hip pocket. Conveniently forgetting that $180 million they paid to produce pro-ObamaCare commercials.

Stan:

All of this kerfuffle over the Chamber of Commerce donating to the Republicans is just a lot of hot air. The Dems are upset that the Chamber is just donating to the Republicans, not giving them any. Also if the Chamber was backing the Dems, there would be all kinds of favorable coverage by the fawning state controlled media. In all of this mess, it all stems to one thing, the Democrat party is losing big time and they so desperate to do anything to keep their majorities in the Congress. Other reason the Dems and Obama in particular hate the Chamber is the fact they opposed ObamaCare and ran ads stating that opposition.

When you're a left-wing hack and you've lost the NYT on your attack theme, the theme must be pretty lame: "But a closer examination shows that there is little evidence that what the chamber does in collecting overseas dues is improper or even unusual, according to both liberal and conservative election-law lawyers and campaign finance documents."
Couple that with losing old time lib Bob Schieffer, and you're going down in flames. Schieffer Mocks Axelrod: Is Complaining About GOP Ad Dollars 'The Best You Can Do?' | NewsBusters.or
Unfortunately, this gives some cover to the story of Obummer taking untold numbers of foreign contributions in '08, but the MSM never did any investigations on that story anyway. Guess they had all their "fact-finders" in Wasilla

Obama is so over his head. He was never remotely qualified for the office. He had his charm and coolness (not that I thought so) and thought that would carry him. He is a disgrace as an American much less as an American president and the reality is hitting him that he is "not all that". People are not as awned by him like they were. Poor ego is going to take a terrible beating. Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.

JLawson:

Well, better late than never for some folks to realize this. It's been pretty clear for a long time that Obama's out of ideas and in way over his head - but apparently believed his magnificent ability to charm crowds would be sufficient.

But reality's a damn hard bitch to appease. Charm and charisma don't cut it, going to steps B, C, D, and E which are dependent on step A succeeding when step A fails wastes money and time. And rich as we are as a nation, we don't have unlimited supplies of both.

How much do we waste on an idea, on an ideology before we go "This isn't going to work, no matter how much money and effort we throw at it?" Does it have to fail the first time? Second? Third?

For all the supposed failures of capitalism, the unemployment rate was lower. For all the problems with our medical system before it was 'fixed' with Obamacare, there was still coverage for everyone who needed it - if not perfect coverage then at least critical care. For all the supposed failures of our housing markets - the problems really escalated when the various patches and fixes were applied.

Capitalism wasn't perfect - but the 'fix' is turning out to be a lot worse than the problem.

At what point do you look at the potion being sold to fix your various ills and go "This shit's making me feel worse as time goes on"? Especially when you can't even find out the ingredients you're being asked to unquestioningly swallow, and see other countries giving up on it?

The more we drink of what Obama's offering, the sicker the economy gets. And he blames us for not getting well? Blames Bush for how he's been having to run up the credit card, shoving out programs and pushing out money, making the economy worse and worse until it's damn near flatlined, yet blaming everyone ELSE for what's going on?

How long until he starts blaming the Dems, too? And then maybe witches? Or maybe get the idea that it's time to man up, admit that what he wants isn't ever going to work, and try something else?

Stan:

Obama is a old time western snake oil salesman on steroids. The kind that went from town to town selling bottles of cure all medicine. These are the kind of people that Abraham Lincoln warned about when he made the fool the people statement. As other posters here have said when you lose the state controlled media, you are toast. Obama has been toast since the day he signed ObamaCare into law.

Yeah, but....

CBS is still gulping the koolaid so fast it's dribbling down their chins. They were careful to assure us that Obama's not a socialist. You now why? Because they asked an honest to goodness socialist!

You see, the healthcare bill wasn't really socialist and the fact that Obama signed it means that he's not a socialist. Since the health care companies weren't abolished and a single payer system established then he's not a socialist. All the government jobs created with the "stimulus" weren't enough to bring employment down to "essentially, be zero" so he's not a socialist. And the car manufacturing takeover ... that's child's play. He didn't take over ALL manufacturing. So he's not a socialist. Spreading the wealth around? Bah! Since he hasn't nationalized all the banks, he's not a socialist.

If you don't go one hundred percent socialist in one fell swoop, you're not a socialist. Inching into it step by step? T'ooey! Move along. Nothing to see here.

Murgatroyd:

In this case, the "projection" is a pre-emptive strike. The Obama crew know that the Democrats will lose control of the House, and they fear that Republicans will hold investigations of Obama's 2008 campaign donations. They Democrats are trying to muddy the waters with claims that "everyone does it" and "you're only accusing us of this now, after we caught you doing it."

And the large number of voters who only notice headlines and sound bites will buy it.
