A number of years ago I had the opportunity to walk the Freedom Trail in Boston. If you find yourself with the chance to experience it, I highly recommend it. I wasn't prepared to be so moved by standing in front of so much history, but moved I was. In fact, before Kevin invited me aboard here, I started my own blog and I named it the "Internet Freedom Trail". History is important. Those that don't remember history are doomed to repeat it and all of that.
Well it would seem the more unhinged left is so doomed. At a Tea Party Express event in Nevada yesterday Sarah Palin warned the crowed not to get cocky and that they wouldn't be able to "party like it's 1773" until a number of tea-party backed candidates are safely elected. The Boston Tea Party occurred near the end of 1773 so the reference was rather obvious. Nothing to see here, move along.
However, a number of liberal tweeters went nuts with the quote. They're knowledge of American history a foggy memory from grade school, they jumped on a Palin-is-stupid meme and mocked her for not knowing the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776, not 1773. How desperate do you have to be to try to discredit a movement to not see the connection between tea party and the Boston Tea Party?
Hot Air links to a list of all the moronic tweets.
Specifically they note that Gwen Ifill jumped into the fray.
Ifill is now backpedaling madly as noted by Michele Malkin.@pbsgwenThat's from Gwen Ifill, respected PBS fixture and -- remember? -- moderator of the Palin/Biden VP debate back in 2008, a job she landed right around the time she was working on her book about the glory of Hopenchange. You sure showed her, Gwen.
gwen ifillSarah Palin: party like its 1773! ummmm,
I don't know just how satisfying election night is going to be a few weeks from now, but it's going to be pretty damn satisfying, that much is for sure.

Even setting aside the fact that Ifill just demonstrated her stupefying ignorance of American history, isn't she also supposed to be one of those impartial reporters working for the supposedly impartial PBS? If she's so impartial, why is she so quick to seize on the opportunity to mock those on one side of the political spectrum?

Expect a Kostard troll to post the following pathetically weak, ass-covering copy and paste talking point that they're throwing against the wall:
"How does Palin's tweet- "Don't party like it's 1773 yet"- make sense? The Boston Tea Party wasn't an end zone dance celebration, it was an act of rebellion. Was Palin saying "Don't rebel yet?"
I'm doing it preemptively to savor the humor of this very definition of the word "fail".

Well, the election won't be all that satisfying if the GOP winds up with 50 or fewer Senate seats.
That said, observing a bunch of liberal idiots projecting their ignorance always is good for fun and games. The fact they couldn't instantly discern the obvious Boston Tea Party reference speaks volumes about the level of vacuousness that permeates the collective consciousness of leftism.
