Dana Milbank's book that slams Glenn Beck sold only 1,600 copies, a mere 4% of its printed copies:
Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank's new book critical of Fox News host Glenn Beck isn't exactly going out-of-stock, The Daily Caller has learned.Milbank's "Tears of a Clown: Glenn Beck and the Tea Bagging of America" has sold fewer than 1,600 copies nationwide since it was released Oct. 5, according to a source with knowledge of the figures.
Milbank's publicist, Todd Doughty, declined to confirm a figure. "Random House does not release sales figures as a corporate policy," he said.
Doughty said 38,700 copies of Milbank's book have been printed.
The summary of the book says Milbank "exposes [Beck] as the guy who is single-handedly giving patriotism a bad name."
"The wildly popular Fox News host with 3 million daily viewers perfectly captures the vitriol of our time and the fact-free state of our political culture," the description on Amazon.com reads. "The secret to his success is his willingness to traffic in the fringe conspiracies and Internet hearsay that others wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole: death panels, government health insurance for dogs, FEMA concentration camps, an Obama security force like Hitler's SS."
By comparison, Beck released a novel this summer called The Overton Window that sold more than 132,000 copies in its first week.
Ha!
As an aside: Government insurance for dogs? I've never heard Beck talk about that. And the whole FEMA camps thing is a lie. Beck went out of his way on his show to debunk that myth, not to promote it. If the Amazon promotional blurb is filled with lies, what does that portend for the book's contents?

Um... I'm confused. Is this book an expose on the contents of a show I could just watch or listen to, more or less for free? This seemed like a good idea? Is the market for this book people without TV's or radios? If so, 1600 copies is pretty good. Admittedly I might be willing to pay a token sum not to have to pay attention to Glen Beck, but that would involve not hearing it second hand too.

Beck's a loudmouth - and the left CAN'T shut him up or shout him down. Truth has its own power - and though you can get people to back a lie or back destructive decisions by calling it 'truth' or getting someone charismatic as hell to push them - eventually people will find out, and they're going to hate you.
And I think it's getting to be that time for the left. You don't control the media any more, you don't control the political dialog, the most charismatic politician you can field hasn't the brains of a stump without his speechwriters and teleprompters.
Reality's about ready to come down on 'reality-based thinking' like a ton of (real) bricks. And it's going to be very, very painful.

Especially when he is hyping the apocalypse on every show and promoting hysteria.

Hey galoob, before you wander off: do you think Milbank can get the Purple-People-Beaters (I think you opened the name-calling line of "reasoning" with your blackshirts comment) to buy a couple hundred thousand copies of his latest blockbuster before they get reprocessed for toilet paper?

Galoob says,
"Gold could go up, it could go down."
Duh. Yeah. That's pretty much true of any investment instrument. So, what's your point?

Okay, so Goldline spends money advertising on Beck's show.
I've seen far too many erectile dysfunction products sold during Maddow and Olbermann.
What's your point?

Oyster, I think the point is that for the average American male, after watching either Rachel or Keith, any hope for sexual capacity comes from a prescription bottle and an understanding and patient partner.

Milbank is just a worthless hack writer. Why would anyone buy any book he authored?
I expect he was counting on True Believer lefties to snatch it up because Beck sends them into even more severe paroxysms of rage than Limbaugh or Palin, but failed to time its release. The sociopathic left is in a funk right now due to their impending humiliation at the polls.
Pot, they'll buy. Crack, sure. Books, not so much.

galoob, there are ways around the filtering you triggered. As you yourself noted, it was automated, not done by anyone, because of too many links.
There are ways around that. I just declined to help you -- because the topic is NOT "let's help the Democratic attack machine destroy a company that's shown the gall to support conservative talk shows."
No biggie, JT, I got the point across. I guess there's no point in beating a dead golden calf.

Yes, galoob, you got your point across -- that the Democrats in power are willing to do whatever it takes to destroy those who offer aid and comfort to their political foes, even unleash the full power of the federal government. And you're not only just fine with that, you'll help them.
That's probably not the point you wanted to convey, but it was the clearest one you gave.
