Pardon me while I enjoy a good laugh this Sunday morning...

Glenn Beck.jpg

Dana Milbank's book that slams Glenn Beck sold only 1,600 copies, a mere 4% of its printed copies:

Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank's new book critical of Fox News host Glenn Beck isn't exactly going out-of-stock, The Daily Caller has learned.

Milbank's "Tears of a Clown: Glenn Beck and the Tea Bagging of America" has sold fewer than 1,600 copies nationwide since it was released Oct. 5, according to a source with knowledge of the figures.

Milbank's publicist, Todd Doughty, declined to confirm a figure. "Random House does not release sales figures as a corporate policy," he said.

Doughty said 38,700 copies of Milbank's book have been printed.

The summary of the book says Milbank "exposes [Beck] as the guy who is single-handedly giving patriotism a bad name."

"The wildly popular Fox News host with 3 million daily viewers perfectly captures the vitriol of our time and the fact-free state of our political culture," the description on Amazon.com reads. "The secret to his success is his willingness to traffic in the fringe conspiracies and Internet hearsay that others wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole: death panels, government health insurance for dogs, FEMA concentration camps, an Obama security force like Hitler's SS."

By comparison, Beck released a novel this summer called The Overton Window that sold more than 132,000 copies in its first week.

Ha!

As an aside: Government insurance for dogs? I've never heard Beck talk about that. And the whole FEMA camps thing is a lie. Beck went out of his way on his show to debunk that myth, not to promote it. If the Amazon promotional blurb is filled with lies, what does that portend for the book's contents?

It was written for the benefit of people who have strong negative opinions about Beck without ever having listened to him on the radio or seen him on TV.

I suspect if Milquebank had written about Rush Limbaugh instead he might have broken 2000 -- and be on his way to a Senate seat.

Seriously?

Damn - used to be the left was all about ideas and tolerance and 'speaking truth to power' - guess that only held as long as your disparate groups weren't the 'power'. And as long as the ideas were the 'correct' ones.

Beck's a loudmouth - and the left CAN'T shut him up or shout him down. Truth has its own power - and though you can get people to back a lie or back destructive decisions by calling it 'truth' or getting someone charismatic as hell to push them - eventually people will find out, and they're going to hate you.

And I think it's getting to be that time for the left. You don't control the media any more, you don't control the political dialog, the most charismatic politician you can field hasn't the brains of a stump without his speechwriters and teleprompters.

Reality's about ready to come down on 'reality-based thinking' like a ton of (real) bricks. And it's going to be very, very painful.

Anyways, Beck's hyping one particular commodity for his listeners to invest in shows that he doesn't give a damn about anything but his own pocket.

Especially when he is hyping the apocalypse on every show and promoting hysteria.

Gold could go up, it could go down.

When all those credulous elderly followers of Beck have half their savings wiped out because they put it all in gold, Beck will be pointing to the fine print . . . diversify your portfolio.
