Pre-Election Day Pick-Me-Up

There was no October surprise. There is little time left for an effective ad or for a gaffe to swing an election in one way or the other. Many in the country have already voted. Tomorrow the bulk of those "likely to vote" will do so.

Given that it all comes down turnout tomorrow, there is little left to say today. But I did notice this finding over at the Corner and it made me smile.

Nancy Pelosi's numbers among independents according to the latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll are almost unbelievably bad-8% favorable, 61% unfavorable.
Then I couldn't help myself. I sat and thought about how horrific those numbers were indeed and I smiled all over again.

Go vote tomorrow. Don't get cocky. Don't assume elections are already decided. Go help decide them yourself. But as you walk into you polling station just think about 8% vs 61% and smile.

Not to worry here in NY. I'll be going to the polls and throwing my votes away and come Wednesday I will still not be represented by anyone that shares my values or ideals in any way above the local level, nor will I nor anyone in all of upstate NY be represented by anyone not from NYC at the statewide level.

Maybe my comptroller candidate will win or something, though. Most depressingly, in a crowded field for governor, I think there are 7 names on the ballot (including 3 of whom appear openly to be communists and an ex-hooker), I will be seeing how well our new voting machines handle undervotes, because I'll be NV'ing the governor line thanks to the amazing incompetence of the state GOP who couldn't even roll out anyone as 'good' as say a Pataki.

Forgive me for being a sourpuss.

There is always a chance that "Al Quada bombs" blow up at or near polling places.

There are the military members especially in chicago who are disenfranchised because the democratic voting officials were too busy taking care of felons rather than the military.

BTW I saw horders of democratic voters last night. AMC had a special on them called "The walking dead". I think I even saw Nancy Pelosi once or twice without her botox.

This sums things up:

Now What? By James Howard Kunstler on October 31, 2010 10:35 PM On Tuesday, when the Republican Party and its Tea Party chump-proxies re-conquer the sin-drenched bizarro universe of the US congress, they'll have to re-assume ownership of the stickiest web of frauds and swindles ever run in human history - and chances are the victory will blow up in their supernaturally suntanned, Botox-smoothed faces. But don't cry for John Boehner, Barack Obama. The President and his Democrats may have inherited this clusterfuck from the feckless George Bush but they flubbed every chance to mitigate any part of it, ranging from their failure to restore the rule of law in banking (by prosecuting the executives of major banks who oversaw the systematic swindle), to mis-directing our dwindling resources toward ends (such as "shovel-ready" new super-highways) that won't promote a credible future for this society, to misleading the public in the fantasy that alt-energy will offset the disruptions of peak oil (and allow us to keep running suburbia, the US Military, and WalMart by other means). It's really too late for both parties. They're unreformable. They've squandered their legitimacy just as the US enters the fat heart of the long emergency. Neither of them have a plan, or even a single idea that isn't a dodge or a grift. Both parties tout a "recovery" that is just a cover story for accounting chicanery and statistical lies aimed at concealing the criminally-engineered national bankruptcy that they presided over in split shifts. Both parties are overwhelmingly made up of bagmen for the companies that looted America.

Sorry, I can't vote for Paladino, as I said to my wife as we listened to yet another Paladino robocall message yesterday where he was asking us to vote for his plans, I would LOVE to vote for his plans, just not the nut that comes with them.

Ask not for whom the bus rolls over, Galoob - it rolls over thee. Useful idiots typically have a short lifespan - either they realize they're being taken for the saps they are and wise up, or they're dumped by the 'progressive' movement when they're not zealous and dedicated enough to make it into the heirarchy of the anointed.

The clock's ticking, Galoob. When your utility is over - the bus will be over you.
