President Obama is surprised by the political costs of ObamaCare?

Then he is even more disconnected from the American people than I previously thought, something I didn't think was possible. The American people told him for months they didn't want his health care reforms. They crowded into town halls and marched in the streets but he and the Democrats forced ObamaCare down their throats anyway.  And now he says he's surprised by the political costs? What did he think the American people meant when they shouted and carried signs that said, "Remember in November!"

President Barack Obama says the political cost of overhauling the health care system turned out to be higher than he had expected. And he admits that he gets discouraged at times when dealing with the economy.

In an interview airing Sunday night on CBS' "60 Minutes," Obama said the health care system itself is huge and complicated and that changing it eluded previous presidents because it was so difficult.

"I made the decision to go ahead and do it, and it proved as costly politically as we expected -- probably actually a little more costly than we expected, politically," he said.

Egad. What a mess he's made of things all because of his arrogance and ego.

For the record, I was surprised too. That might just be the first time I've ever seen libDems pay a real price at the polls for their sins. I honestly thought that the voters would forget, just as they've forgotten every other rancid pile of crap the LibDems have dumped on them over the past four years.

But HE could wrench it. HE used to be a community organizer, after all (who was so smart that his college transcripts had to be classified to keep from making the rest of the country (including Stephen Hawking) feel like snails in the presence of a being of godlike power) and if THAT didn't prepare you for the insane interrelated complexities of reforming the health care system, what would? Actual management experience? An MBA? Any sort of leadership? Nah, you needed someone with NO idea what he was doing and NO idea how complex the job actually was and NO concept of what to actually do that wouldn't foul things up to even attempt it!

Guess he figured his golden oratorical skills would be enough to save his ignorant ass when it all went pear-shaped - but it wasn't. And he's taken out a whole lot of Democrats. Way to fix health care, buddy. What are you going to do for your NEXT trick?

Barack - here's a clue. Health care hasn't been fixed because it's hideously complex and won't easily be managed through a top-down approach. If you really wanted to make sure everyone had some level of coverage, you could have done that for considerably less cost that what you've actually managed.

But you wanted the whole package - a UK/European style system, regardless of cost. Hell, we're the US! We can afford trillions!

But you never bothered to ask US if we wanted to pay that bill.

By the way, where is Bubba? How come the MSM isn't asking him about that prognostication?

If any Dim-Dems are still wondering why they got their asses kicked, just look at that picture of Pelosi on Parade with her Speaker's gavel just before the vote was taken.

I think that Barry was counting on the fact that health care is complex and that the bill was huge and no one would figure out what they had done until several years after it all went into effect. By then it would be so entrenched that it would be impossible to resurrect the system he destroyed and we would be stuck with a dysfunctional socialist system that rewarded bureaucrats for disallowing needed treatments and forced people to wait months for treatment as they do in Canada and Europe.

He also really does believe in his own hype and is so ideological that he thinks he is infallible. When he blames messaging it is not because he thinks he needs spin to get him out of a bind, but he really believes that his plan is perfect and that if only he could explain it properly that people would side with him.

He doesn't see the long waiting lines of socialist medicine as a draw back. He really doesn't care that people in Canada with colon cancer die waiting for treatment. Letting people die is just the price of making it fair for everyone.

Obama understands that people will die under his health care system who would be treated and survive and even fully recover under the current system, just as he understands that many Democrats would lose their seats over supporting his socialistic vision.

He understood the risks to all these, but they were risks he was willing to take. If the sick die and the Democrats lose, let them be comforted by the knowledge their sacrifice helped him write history. And even though their names would never be known, or visible through the bright shining light which is Obama, they may go in peace knowing that, even if he doesn't know their names either, he will always remember that they or someone just as expendable was out there to be expended.

Just because Obama *says* he was surprised by the political costs of the Democrats' healthcare bill doesn't mean he actually *is* surprised.

The Dems know full well the voters don't want it, but that isn't going to stop the Dems from going for what the Dems want.

The Dems know, and are counting on, how hard it will be to totally overturn their 'accomplishments'.

Three steps forward, one or two steps back, but their agenda moves forward in the long run.

Reading this thread, and all of the really good comments above, I'm reminded of the following:

A 2008 New Yorker article quoted Patrick Gaspard, now the White House political director, describing what Obama told him during the job interview: "I think that I'm a better speechwriter than my speechwriters. I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I'll tell you right now that I'm gonna think I'm a better political director than my political director."

And yet, and yet...

Unlike most places on Earth, many Americans still have a special attachment to Freedom and Liberty and Idividualism. Someday, the Obamacare socialized med machine would deny care to someone who won't go quietly into the cattle car to die. That guy might just hunt down, er, I mean find the gov't czar who denied him treatment and get 'restitution'.
There's more than a few citizens like that, thankfully.

Hopefully, we can just repeal Obamacare all nice and peaceful-like and avoid all this unpleasantness.

This morning I read that the AMA is up in arms over the pending 23% cutback in Medicare payments to doctors. And another pending cut of several percent in January.

HUH?

What the hell were those bastards thinking when they ENDORSED ObamaCare? Did they actually believe that the Democrats would not make the cuts they said they would IN ORDER TO REDUCE COSTS? Did they not pay attention to the CBO score - purposely made with false figures and assumptions - in order to "SELL" it to the American public?

Now they're whimpering that they'll have to reduce the number of Medicare patients they see or suffer financial loss.

ObamaCare is coming home to roost with a vengeance.
