Obama busts lip while working Korean crisis...

... 12 stitches needed to close lip... wait... no... more information is now available... ok... he wasn't working on the Korean crisis, or the unemployment problem, or the Afghanistan war, or the Israeli-Palestinian problem...

He was doing something else:

The White House says President Barack Obama has received 12 stitches in his lip after being hit during a pick up basketball game.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs says the president was inadvertently struck by someone's elbow Friday.

The president received the stitches in the doctor's office on the ground floor of the White House. Obama had traveled to Fort McNair with a group of family and friends for an early morning game of basketball.

Hopefully he'll be back on that basketball court again soon.  Doing what... he was... elected... to do.

So Bush would have been a better president if he didn't bike ride between clearing brush? That's quite an interesting position that you have. Made even more moronic by the fact that Bush holds the record for most vacation days taken. Don't let that get in the way of your Obama hatin', though.

The ditherer in chief spent over 6 months trying to figure out what he wanted to do about Afghanistan. During those 7 months he spent less than 30 minutes on a face to face meeting with his general in charge of the theater.

I don't care what Bush did or did not do when he was President. He didn't golf as much as Barry. He didn't spend $10 Million on White House parties his first year in office like Barry. And he didn't think every question had to be about how wonderful "The Won" was. The point is that Bush is no longer president and Barry is.

If you want to defend him by comparing him to the man you have been whining about being the worst president ever then you really aren't saying much about obama are you? So you claim Bush 43 is the worst ever and obama is better than that. OK. Then I will answer that there are 42 Presidents that are still better than the won.

Folks, I am opposed to President Obama's policies, too, and I don't want to see him re-elected. Yet, I consider the above "busted lip" story to be a non-story. So, the man was playing basketball with friends and relatives during a holiday weekend. The problem with him doing that is what?

In case you have never noticed, the day after Thanksgiving is a vacation day for many people, including those who work in D.C.

In order for him to solve problems (assuming that he has the ability to) the President needs to make contact with people who work throughout the Executive Branch, and if those people are not working the day after Thanksgiving, then it is unlikely that the President could get much work done on that day.

Sure, things are heating up in North Korea, but at the moment all is quiet there, and the U.S. military is already on top of the situation. Should an immediate crisis occur, the President would be informed right away.

If President George W. Bush were still in the Oval Office, then he, too, would be taking the day off on the day after Thanksgiving. So, it makes no sense to complain about President Obama not working the day after Thanksgiving.

Again, I am the political opposite of President Obama, and I want him out of the Oval Office. Yet, I see in Rick's post a double-standard being used, which unbecoming of Wizbang standards.

jim m:

I think the point is that he takes an inordinate number of days off. It's one thing if it had the appearance that he was actually addressing the country's problems but it doesn't.

He spent millions throwing himself parties to declare how great he was. He jetted off to Europe to collect his meaningless Nobel and then to pitch for the Olympics with the argument: "Give the Olympics to Chicago because I'm cool".

He wasted months before making a decision on Afghanistan. He Promised at the end of 2009 that 2010 would be focused on, "Jobs. Jobs. Jobs." and then he proceeded to focus on obmacare to the near exclusion of everything else. He promised that he would focus on jobs after the election and now we are getting taxes and amnesty.

Nobody cares if he takes a reasonable number of days off. It just seems that he doesn't work that much when he is in the white house. He certainly doesn't focus on the issues the public is concerned about. But then I suppose that is because the only thing the Narcissus in chief can really focus on is himself.

I think it's worth mentioning that one of Obama's favorite phrases is "I will not rest until." He wouldn't rest until the BP oil spill was controlled, then took off on vacation. He wouldn't rest until health care was passed, and then took off on vacation. He wouldn't rest until... well, you get the idea.

Just more affirmation that every single Obama promise comes with an expiration date. In the BP case, it was mere days.

I dont care if he plays basketball or golf or whatever. Just dont stand up there and say "Jobs are priority one" or "focused on the economy like a laser beam" and then head out to immediately go play a round of golf and 6 weeks later still have nothing new for the economy or jobs (except throw more money at it which we see doesnt work) and head out to another round of golf.
