I gotta warn you, this gets graphic. Prepare to be disgusted. And not just because Elmo is extremely annoying. It’s because he’s helping the White House PR campaign to use your money to tell you what they are doing for you.
Doug Powers with the perfect summation of this:
Is it safe to assume Bert & Ernie will be hauled out this weekend to push the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”?
And isn’t this what kids are eating already? I don’t have any kids of my own (that I know of), so I’m really not familiar with what they’re getting. The last time I had a healthy, nutritious meal at school was during the Reagan administration, so I’m figuring things have changed. At least, I’m thinking they changed.

Elmo mom if you are worried about the food at school you could always brown bag it. The left always want the right to choice as long as they control all the choices.

I'm LMAO! I had four kids. Try feeding kids "colors" like in that burrito and see what happens. And oh yum, whole wheat pasta with vegitables! They'll love that as much as they love tofurkey. It will go so well with an arugula shake.

yttik,
I know what you mean. Campbell's soup started putting whole wheat noodles in some of their soups and my son immediately said that he didn't want the soup anymore. It might be healthier for them, but they need to want to eat it. Serving food that tastes like crap (and the soup certainly tasted like mildly flavored card board) isn't going to cut it.

I don't see the big deal. School lunches have really fallen off the deep end in recent years. most of it seems to come from ridiculous regulations that make the schools prepare a certain number of fruits, proteins and veggies each day.
My son was recently served Mozerella Sticks as his entree at his Elementary School. I guess since cheese is a protein, that means he's had a healthy lunch.
