"Except Obama, except Obama!"

You know... this smells funny to me... smells like a leftist plant frankly:

A woman was arrested in the House gallery Thursday after interrupting a reading of the Constitution by yelling out her belief that President Barack Obama is not a natural born citizen of the United States.

When Frank Rep. Pallone (D-N.J.) read the part of Article II, Section 1 mandating that only a "natural-born citizen" may be president, the woman, seated in the front row of the public gallery, screamed "Except Obama, except Obama. Help us Jesus."

An officer removed her from the gallery as she yelled out "My name is Theresa."

"You're under arrest," the officer could be heard telling her as he led her through double doors at the back of the chamber.

The birther issue is no longer worth the time of day.  It may've been an issue before Obama was elected, but not now, not 2 years into the man's reign.  In fact, those pushing the issue are coming across as... well... loons.

And there's no better way to push that loon meme forward than to yell something like that which this woman yelled at the time she yelled.  And to end her stunt with "Help us Jesus".... just a way to paint Christians as loons too.  It's essentially a leftist two-fer.

I'd like to find out more about this Theresa woman.  And I'd like to know whether she has any ties to moonbat groups.

I, of course, could be wrong.  But it's what struck me when I first heard this.

You?

Mrs. Right:

BHO is not a natural born citizen; his father was not an American citizen at the time of his (Barack's) birth. So, if we assume BHO was born in HI, he's still an American citizen, just not a natural born citizen (an American born of parents who are American citizens). My husband isn't either. His father was a legal immigrant from Guatemala who became a citizen after Mr. Right was born.

It's really kind of a moot point right now. What's anyone going to do about it? Does it matter?

Suburban Scarecrow:

My understanding of "natural born citizen" is that it means (according to case law and common law) a person who is a citizen at birth. Unless Obama's father was a foreign diplomat, he was a citizen of the U.S. at the moment of his birth on U.S. soil. This makes him a natural born citizen. As you say though, it's a moot point now.

"Do you know something the Supreme Court doesn't know?"

Maybe we'd know if the administration wasn't spending millions in taxpayer dollars to keep this question out of the Supreme Court. Obama's father is irrelevant because his parents were never legally married. Obama knows this: read the "autobiography" that Bill Ayers wrote for him. Anyway, it's just the same old shit again... Obama is neither eligible nor qualified to be the president. Get over it.

"According to Dr. Lawrence Solum, a law professor at the University of Illinois College of Law, we know two things for sure about the meaning of "natural born citizen":

* Anyone who is born in the United States, of parents who are U.S. citizens, is definitely, without doubt, a natural born citizen.

* Anyone who acquires U.S. citizenship through naturalization, after his or her birth, is definitely not a natural born citizen [03]."

john:

That quote doesn't address the issue. It's one thing to say "x qualifies as a natural born citizen", but another to say "a natural born citizen is defined as x". Your quote is the former, but it's not an exhaustive list. Or are you suggesting that someone born in the US (as you acknowledge Obama was) to non-citizen parents is not a citizen? In that case, you don't need to worry about anchor babies anymore. And you also contradict the law:

The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth:
(a) a person born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof;

"If you acknowledge Obama was born in Hawaii, end of story."

Ah, but there's the problem.
Obama is pretty much the only person who can prove definitively that he was born in Hawaii.

Even though this is no longer a story, Obama still will not prove it. (Why?)

Thus, I do not acknowledge Obamna was born in Hawaii due to lack of proof. And the Certificate of Birth released by his propaganda machine is not proof, it is not a Birth Certificate of the type signed by the parents.

If (and it is a very big IF) it turns out Obama was lying (again), there would be a Constitutional crisis of unimaginable proportions.

"Once again, the loonies are loose. My guess is that birthers are the same people who believe that vaccines cause autism."

This comparison is not valid, IMO.
The "vaccines cause autism" was created by a huge media blitz based on a study that turned out to be a lie.
The "birther" movement was created by a lack of information, due in part to a total lack of media coverage of the candidate's background in 2008.

Intriguing though, that if the media had actually done its job (ie, investigative reporting), both groups would be minimized in membership...

I've got an old friend from my days in the Air Force. He still adds, "Show me the birth certificate." to the sig block of his emails. If you even bring up President Obama's name, he becomes absolutely red-faced and livid and begins counting off all of The President's "crimes." Over the past few years, my friend has become VERY right wing, VERY fundamentally Christian, and has gone so far as to say he's thinking of either joining or forming a militia. He and I have had to stop speaking or communicating because I'm not conservative enough and because my family and I aren't "good enough Christians."

2 years into the man's 'reign'??? And SHE'S the 'loon'? Hmm. It really is a good thing we're reading the Constitution ---might undo some brainwashing & restore some basic understanding of the difference between a servant of the people & one who reigns arbitrarily over them. Either we are all under the rule of law ---or our Constitutional system of governance is mere symbolism & utterly meaningless.
