It was just a few days ago that Obama said, "only a more civil and honest public discourse can help us face up to the challenges of our nation".
And it was last night that this took place on the floor of the House of Representatives:
In an extraordinary outburst on the House floor, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) invoked the Holocaust to attack Republicans on health care and compared rhetoric on the issue to the work of infamous Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.
"They say it's a government takeover of health care, a big lie just like Goebbels," Cohen said. "You say it enough, you repeat the lie, you repeat the lie, and eventually, people believe it. Like blood libel. That's the same kind of thing. And Congressman Cohen didn't stop there.
"The Germans said enough about the Jews and people believed it--believed it and you have the Holocaust. We heard on this floor, government takeover of health care. Politifact said the biggest lie of 2010 was a government takeover of health care because there is no government takeover," Cohen said.
Do understand that the call for civility on the part of the leftists in this country is complete and total bovine fecal matter. They're as interested in civility as Michael Moore is in veracity. Not very. Or as the wider media is in telling this story.
Imagine for a moment what the hue and cry might've been if Republicans were saying things like this about Democrats. We'd be hearing about it for days. But let a Democrat say this kind of crap and it's largely ignored.
Civility?
Stick it in your ear.

I doubt we'll here anything further now re Cohen in the MSM.
The worst hypocrisy on planet earth, is the delusional activity on the Left--screaming about civility, then relentlessly attackind Palin, and other Republicans.

Hyper,
So what if Palin's polling is low. Has she declared? Has she won a nomination? I think that you will find a lot of people here do not care for her as a candidate either. With her polling it is likely that someone else will get that nomination and their polling right now would be lower because they lack the name recognition.
Barry is in deep shit and you know it. Unless he can get the economy turned around he's toast. He is pushing more spending and higher taxes both of which the majority of Americans don't want. He is printing money like mad that has pushed us to the brink of inflation that could quickly become hyperinflation. He has managed to avoid the pitfalls from the Gifford shooting but he has not shown that he can lead and make real compromises. So far he has shown that he can be overrun by a hostile Congress and forced to sign legislation he doesn't like such as the extension of the Bush tax cuts.
You can gloat all you like but Palin is not the nominee and is not likely to be so and we really don't care that much if that is the case.

Actually, he's not really all that good at that. He won the IL Senate because he ran all competition off the ballot. He won the US Senate because the media managed to run his GOP competition off the ballot. He won the Presidency because people wanted to vote to prove they were not racist. He has huge negatives and will not win the kind of vote he got before and will not pull the same kind of turnout he got before. While some will want to presume that he will win the 2012 election it is far from certain. And yes, the GOP can screw this up easily.
